I laughed at the 100kgs and thinking of racing the "haute route"... That would have been a fun read if he did it!.

I saw an article from a lift out magazine the other week, I think it was the Weekend West, full two page article about some 'regular guy' in America who decided he was bored with life and so went on a massive cycle tour from North to South America. He had a pretty sweet ride too, custom steel frame with S&S couplings, IGH, belt drive and full stainless Tubus racks. I think a lot of people are getting bored with all your pre-packaged travel options and want some adventure and something to really tell the folks back home about - I know that's my main motivation.
