Camp Sites

Postby rog on a bike » Wed Oct 03, 2012 7:59 pm

Hi All
A number of publications exist providing information on camp sites, caravan parks and overnight stops.
All of these tend to be large, heavy and in most cases cumbersom.
I have just come across a very usefull, FREE. application suited to most smart phones.
Its called WikiCamps. Check it out. I found it very informative. It provides HEMA refrences, Lat and Lon and a map function etc.
What are the alternatives and what are your thoughts?
Cheers Rog

I have used Wikicamps which is a iPhone/iPad/Android app. It is okay. but not always that accurate and can be lacking in coverage particular in areas where there is no phone network hence people don't tend to add the information. It also has a motorists focus as one would expect so sometimes the information of relevance to cycling tourists is lacking.

I find that whilst I might use in planning, actually on the road I tend to go more with the flow.
