I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone who has riden through Arhnem Land. I just went to the Northern Land Council and a women with west Arhnem straight up said no about riding up to the Coburg peninsula. I am going to apply to ride to Nhulunbuy, giving them specific places where I will camp each night. Just wondering if anyone has heard of anyone doing this, or anything that might help in getting a permit.
thanks

Gday rek
Welcome to the forum.

Google tour de arnhemland, there maybe someone who can advise you on how to go about this.

The road to cobourg from memory, as it has been a long time since i was there, was quite good. The floodplains around oenpelle were spectacular. The rest of the trip was though varying forests and creek crossings. A beautiful part of the country. There was a park camp ground at smith point. Take mossie repellant.

The road from oenpellie to nhlunbuy, across the top was not to bad as well, but did have stretches of bulldust then, mainly around the paperbark trees. Long way between townships. No accommodation at the townships, but there is the local store for provisions.

Would suggest this time of the year is to hot as the build up is trying to muscle its way in now. Suggest nest dry is the time to go.

crocs in the water at every point. Do not trust the water.
Cheers
Steve

If you know someone that knows a traditional land owner or maybe give them gifts you will have a better chance. You have to be very respectful and show a lot. I used to work with a guy that would go camping and shooting up there on private property but he knew some of the locals up there.
