Hi,
Is it possible to ride the rail service road from Canberra to Goulburn or is it locked/gated or fenced off to the public? Any info would be a big help.
Cheers

I can't say I've noticed anything about the rail service road (I assume it's out of bounds) but the "main" road that runs in the same area (ie through Tarago etc) is pretty quiet.

Last week, I was out near Hoskinstown ... having a bit of a squiz at the decaying Bungendore to Captains Flat line. When I came across the track that SchuMi2 was interested in riding. The photo shows an access to the section between Red Rocks Gorge Tunnel and Bungendore.
That's one hell of a bullet proof gate. On the bottom of signs like this, should be left room for comments, like ... PIG'S ΛҐ∫€ THERE IS!!!
In an out-n-back from Bungendore via Hoskinstown last Tuesday, on the Hoskinstown Road, Plains Road and Briar Sharrow Road, then rejoining the Hoskintown Road to Bungendore, was very nice we. The day was dark and a tad coldish. which I found pleasant but I was with a friend from Qld who thought that the conditions were sub-Arctic. There was only about 4 klicks of dirt, just before Hoskinstown, the rest was on good tarmac. We saw a handful of vehicles and several lone cyclists. Not a bad tally for midweek.
Plains Road and Briar Sharrow are as flat as pancakes and the Hoskinstown Road before turning onto Plains Road, is mildly undulating (past Hoskinstown it gets steep and hilly). On this Molonglo Flood Plain, are some of the flattest roads going, in the region.
Photos of roads coming.

Briars Sharrow Road and Plains Road.
It gets pleasantly flat out there.
