Has anyone taken a Bob trailer on Spirit of Tas?

Postby thecaptn » Sun May 10, 2015 4:52 pm

Hi All,

I've taken a bike over to Tassie on the boat which is pretty easy but has anyone ever taken a bike and trailer before?

I'm wondering if it would cost anymore than a bike on it's own, I could ring and ask but I bet someone on here has done it. The other complication is that I'm toying with the idea of taking my dog touring with me and that's the reason for the trailer. I know what you need to do to take your dog on the boat but boarding with bike, dog and trailer would be quite complicated.

Yes. After Christmas 2007 we took the tandem with the BOB over on the Spirit. No problems or issues in fares or other arrangements. It counted as one bike, and there was a minimal charge for bicycles, if any, as I recall. On the vehicle deck all our bikes were secured in a seperate room off in the starboard quarter of the ship.

Don't know anything about arrangements for dogs.

Thanks Pete, that's what I thought would probably be the case. Dogs are $22 and need to have evidence of having all of the relevant vaccinations up to date.
Cheers
