Snowy River national park

Postby Stovepipe » Fri Mar 17, 2017 9:11 pm

Hi tourers,
Has anyone done bike packing /camping in snowy River national park? Looks awesome and I'd like to do a trip for a few nights. Looking for tips - good spots, trails, views, swimming spots, etc.
Obviously I want to travel via bike (like a gravel tourer) but I don't want it to be the sole focus. Fishing, fires, sitting by a stream etc.

If anyone's been there it'd be great to hear your experiences

Assuming NSW, not Vic?

Camp fires are OK ... except on fire ban days!

The 'best practice' these days is a fuel stove. But a small camp fire is 'accepted'.

Fishing restrictions .. varies by state .. but fine in NSW national parks (but not in Qld IIRC).

Well based on the parks Vic notes page, they have an icon for fishing and fires amongst others. Fires probably restricted to designated pits but that's ok. Parks Vic pages are good but still a little unclear on some things (eg has the fishing icon but no further mention of it).

Failing anyone having visited snowy river, any other recommendatons for said activities?
