Cairns to Melbourne

Hello everyone!

I hope you are well.

Me and my friend are hoping to cycle the east coast, Cairns to Melbourne or vise versa at some point in the next year camping as we go. Please could someone be so kind as to advise what time of year and which way would be best to complete the route as naturally i'm conscious of the differing climate and winds that may affect our journey.

Generally any advice would be greatly appreciated in regards to the topic as we are trying to gather as much information as possible from good routes to good campgrounds.
