Will the 4WD be carrying the riders luggage? If so there needs to be a ratio of riders per 4WD. 10 riders into 1 4WD won't go.

Basics this far
BYO bike. Possible collection Adelaide for fly ins. Start Clare Valley with riding some sections to Marree. Distance per day will be depending on track conditions but include stops at Coward Springs William Creek Side trip to the Peak then Algebuckina. There is also the option to tourRoxby Downs Olympic Dam as a side trip

Hey Dibbsy,

sounds good so far, what sort of timeframe are you thinking of? from Clare to Marree is 500k so there's 4 - 5 days before you get to the Oodnadatta track.

My last trip with a friend started at Marree, through to Marla, back down through Coober Pedy and the Painted desert for a total of 1000k avg around 100k/day very doable. Flies were unbelievably thick :x - my butt was unbelievably sore and I had to stop short  , there's no escape when you're out there but a support car would make a world of difference :)

Also keen to get an idea of what part of the year you're thinking of - i'm still working full time so forward planning is required so I can notify work and make arrangements, also have some other ideas for trips so working out how my leave can be best utilised because there's not enough of it to go around.

I'm in Adelaide - so keen to hear from anyone in the Adelaide/SA area interested in offroad bike pack tours.

Cheers

Hi there, my name is Paul, I'm in Sydney but happy to be considered for the ride. I was planning on doing some desert riding with a mountain bike with 3 inch tyres on it in 2018, so can I join the list of expressions of interest, cheers paul

Well Dibbsy,

I ended up doing the Oodnadatta as part of a bigger trip starting in Alice Springs and riding back to my home in Adelaide last September 2018, we traveled off-road down through Maryvale and Finke to Oodnadatta and Marree (I lost my tent and sleeping mat north of William Creek  ), then turned left at Parachilna and headed up to Blinman to finish on the Mawson Trail.

What a great trip it was, 1750 kms in total. I do confess to taking the train from Gawler to Mawson Lakes which is a trip of 30kms - I figured I'd earned it by then.

Cheers
