Advice needed - Wadonga to Khancoban

Postby surly56 » Thu Jul 12, 2018 4:28 pm

Hello Folks,
Whiling away these cold winter evenings by planning some trips for later in the year.
Looking at a possible Wadonga to Bairnsdale via Mt Kosciuszko ride.
These are not roads I know and am not sure about the section between Wadonga and Khancoban.
Any advice on the merits of the route along the border via Bellridge, Talgarno and Walwa or the south alternative along the Murray Valley Highway via Tallangatta and Corryong?
Just guessing that the first may have less traffic?
Thanks
Ross.

My home country! A few choices, the river rd via Bellbridge, Granya, Walwa is great. Other option to consider is the rail trail to Tallangatta then over the hill to Granya. Or if you want quieter dirt roads, head up the river road to Wymah, take the punt across the weir and head up that road to Jingellic.

Compared to the above, I wouldn't recommend the highway between Tallangatta and Corryong.

Can talk more about the area if you like Ross. Great riding up there.

Thanks Luke. You can´t beat local knowledge.
May have a few more questions once I firm up my plans.
Cheers, Ross.
