It's a great opportunity to to the tun with other people, own pace and i think there are pit stops, not to mention being able to ride over the bridge on the road

Ive registered online and Im looking forward to it, I have never ridden Cambridge--Richmond before so be good to check that out on a bike[driven it alot of course] Not sure about up around back Tea tree road, theres been a fair bit of roadworks there lately, resurfacing I think mostly but im not sure if its finished yet?
Im going to try and get to the Hobart Rivulet tour as well, bit of local history and maybe even a quiet ale and a steak at the Cascade Inn I take that shared gravel path up the rivulet when Im heading up the mountain on the mtb and sometimes the roadie when its dry.
This will be my 3rd 100km ride so just taking it easy and making sure I dont bonk Allthough ive done a bit of riding since the last one, so I should make it.

4 days prior - balanced diet with 70-80 % Calories from carbohydrates; at least 600 grams per day of carbohydrates in the 2 to 3 days prior to the ride
4 hours prior - eat at least 2 hours before the ride. A small carb meal is ok. If your not used to eating prior to a ride dont eat pasta as it may upset your stomach. Try a protein bar. Your legs are going to need it and you may find your legs run out, which is motly due to lack of protein and the legs start to hurt. I also drink a powerade or gatorade prior to riding.
4 minutes prior - nothing special I like to eat a chocolate or a power gel. Keep the energy levels up and get the body firing.
During the ride, regular snacks, often a protein bar or sultannas etc in the first hour or two, in the last hour I have power gels to get the energy levls back up again.
Keep hydrated you should be consuming on avg a bottle per hour, 250mls per 15mins. And more on a hot day.
No alcohol or fatty foods for 3-4 days prior to the ride.

I will be eating pasta for dinner mostly each night of the week.....no change there. and the night before i will have 2 small dinners
Race/ride starts at 9am, therefore breakfast (AT) 7am either pasta and tuna or porridge, washed down with a sport drink.
eat a banana or two before 9am.
On the day before drink at least 2 sport drinks....my sport drink is a scoop for Enduro powder (this stuff his magnesium) and i little bit of Gatorade powder for flavor.
During the ride 2 sports drinks, by bottles are BIG, as the ride is 100kms i will have a goo every 40kms, thus i will eat 2 and have 1 for back up. oh and my new favorite is Enduro lollies, which is a combo of normal lollies and sport drink/goo. Oh and 1 banana for back up.
I just hope the weather is good and stable, I find my life and plans are all weather dependant
PS strong sun screen and buttcream/papaw......you know why, mobile, id, pump, tube....and i am packed

Time depends on road conditions and wind, i am hoping to hover around/just below 30kmph and to have enough in the tank to tackle/attack grass tree.
does anyone know if the course is going to be marked or marshalled, i have a fear of taking a wroung turn

If we stay together in a bunch we should be able to avg 27-30kmh/r. Tea Tree Rd is probablly the toughest section last year, undulating, cross head wind.
Depends on conditions but 3hrs 30mins is what I am aiming for. I rode this route late last year in 3hrs 37mins with two of us.

Well what a day! Awesome weather, great riders.... then Grasstree.... god that hurt. Looking at it from the station was pretty daunting to say the least. But topped it and made it to the finish. Ride time of 3hrs 36mins 43secs so not too bad on my first 100. Avg speed of 28.38kph. Looking forward to next year!
Cheers

Heres my bike comp stats for the day..
Time: 5:14
Av: 25.5
Dist: 133.6
Mx: 61.0
For the actual ride im not exactly sure because I forgot to note the time, I think about 3 n half hours. {I asked one of the guys I rode with his time when we got back to Salamanca and he said 3:50 and he started at ken selfs. Once clear of the masses I think our average was low 30's
Obviously it was my fastest 100 by a country mile , well, my 3rd time and one was solo so not hard to see why.
But I shocked the hell out of myself at being able to keep up and finished feeling pretty good, bit of sunburn on the snoz Even the fellas I rode with were surprised!...apparently now im a bushranger
The ride in general was fun I think, ive never ridden with that many people before. Riding over the bridge with police escort was cool! I never got to mingle before the ride I was late as usual and was paying my fee's as they were about to start.
Not that I know what you look like but I did see some Dome guys on grasstree ? I would of said hello but I was trying to stop my lungs escaping out an orifice and my legs from spontaneous combustion Our big guy[Chris] was hurting a bit on the climb so we waited at the top, the short but well earned decent was a treat[nice and cool]
Im sure we will meet sooner or later! And Barry and Cam, it would be good to put a few forum names to faces. Ive told the people I ride with about the forum but they are bloody technophobes
I never saw any crashes but did see the results of a couple, one guy rattling along with a broken spoke after riding over another cyclist who was on the road! and some grazes on a couple of others. No serious injuries that I heard of which is good.
Annnyway, I enjoyed myself and would do another mass ride like that in a heartbeat.
cheers

My legs are feeling it tonight, had a nice dinner, Ill get some protein back in the muscles over the next day and rehydrate. I ate well on the ride and I didn't bonk.
I have a wicked cyclist tan today!!
With a race next Sunday the final Tri of the season, Ill spin the legs the next couple of days.
It would be great to have a regular BNA ride!!!

I am back at work and all of my stats are at home......will post them on tuesday.
But my time was 3:15, with an average of 31 kmph....with no stops and got held up on the bike track.
i was with a group of 4 till the first check point, then i decided to take the lead....i never saw the group again, thus i did the second half....the hard half by myself....and then collected and over took the burnt riders from the first 2 groups.
the winning time was 2:59.
perfect day for riding, went through GU 2 goos, 2 bins and 3/4 pack of GU lollies.

Quite possibly. I was with a fast (for me anyway) pack from Cambridge to 7 mile then back to the Airport round about, then got dropped and rode with a Dome rider to the checkpoint. After that I picked up a pack going up back tea tree rd and stayed with them until the checkpoint again. After that I rode solo to the finish.Baldy wrote:Hmmm I think I was riding next to a silver Orbea Might of even spoken to you? Its all a bit of a blurCam wrote: I'll be on a silver Orbea.
