mark, it means that we just ride...as everyonr rides a different speed up hill then you just ride at what ever pace you want.
keen to follow up with a Granton return...optional

Hey mate
Cheers for the offer but ive gotten into the habit of taking the mtb for a spin on sundays the last couple of months. I was thinking about checking out the Clarence mtb park or just the usual grinding up some ungodly steep firetrail I have not been on the roadie since I last saw you, ive been running around on the 520 shopping for the last bits and pieces for the trip so thats been enough.
Have a good ride, with the forecast for the week looking rancid!, tomorrow is the day Its going to be 17 ffs!! woohoo

hope to be in Hobart end of Jan 2012 and aim to try and get to the top.... lowest gearing I have is 42/28 which, I think, may be a real struggle for my level of fitness.....

I'll be on a steel frame 80's road bike, 27" wheels, 5 or 6 speed freewheel, 52/42 crank.... hhmmmm... close to a fixieBarryTas wrote:zephy wrote:a little off topic.... what gearing are you folks using to climb the Mt?

LG that is encouraging that your mate made it with 42/23.... I'll be giving it a red hot go no matter what, I don't care if it takes me all day to get up there....

I've made it to the top on a ten-speed, 80's Repco roadie with standard gearing, despite my destinct lack of climbing ability...zephy wrote:I'll be on a steel frame 80's road bike, 27" wheels, 5 or 6 speed freewheel, 52/42 crank.... hhmmmm... close to a fixie

Wasn't fun though - I'd recommend borrowing or hiring something with a triple chainring or at least a compact for the day if you can.

try borrowing a compact 50/34 with a 11-27, thats all you need to comfortably get up there
