Mt Wellington Challenge - TT

I am thinking about giving it a crack.

So one eles interested. any advice. any training tips.

Entered last night, only tip i can give is don't go to hard on the bottom section its a leg killer, i had a water bottle change at the springs last year but with the road closed this year that wont be possible. .

I've registered along with at least a 3 of my mates. Others yet to register... Now's the time to be doing training rides up Wellington. I believe one of my mates is going up tomorrow morning, someone else on Saturday. I'll probably head up early next week.

Barry, thanks for the compliment but even by the most optimistic calculations I'd still be more than 10 minutes off the record My goal is a 1:15, but will revise that after a training run from Longley... What are your goals?

i will have to ride the actual course to get some stats then to work it out.

Im hoping to break into the 1h5min or below this year, got an 1h 10 last year and have lost a bit more weight plus have some nice light new wheels and am alot fitter than last year.

Speaking with one of Ritchies friends....he is very proud of his record up Mt Wellington. I dont think it will be broken...not in the forseeable future. Not even the top riders in Aus would break it Grenda, Clarke didnt break 50mins.

I think Sid Taberlay might just give it a nudge if he entered. The time would be pretty weather dependent, you can lose a few minutes on the flat if its wet and if you get a headwind up top (or anywhere) its all over i imagine for the top guys getting close.,

I have heard...........Sid....doesn't have a contract this year as Subary Mont has given way and maybe back in Tas or on the mainland racing.

little Campbell Flakemore might break it, if not this year i swould say within 3 years.


he broke the Richmond TT record at the weekend. he even rode to Richmond and it was windy. he is very light and slight so i am thinking that he can climb better than can can TT

I'm sure Ive read he isnt going overseas until April...which may have him riding the Mt Wellington TT I've just emailed him and asked him if he will be doing the Mt Wellington TT, stay tuned....
