Ride around Tasmania – Tas Cancer Ride February 2011
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Graeme Milburn’s ride for cancer around Tasmania. Each
year he aims to raise money for cancer research and education for the Cancer Council of Tasmania.
In 2010, Graeme raised $54,000 for Cancer research during this ride, with $600,000 being raised
since the ride began 30 years ago.
The 2011 ride will commence in Devonport at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on 20th February at
9.00am, before making its way through to Latrobe and heading towards Hobart.
For southern riders, there is an opportunity to join Graeme at various times during his southern
stages.
Details:
Friday 25th February 2011
Option 1 – Riders can arrange to ride to Oatlands, approximately 70 km north of the Cadbury factory
in Claremont. They will need to arrive in Oatlands prior to Graeme’s departure time of 9.00am.
Riders can join the Peloton that will ride back to the Cadbury factory at Claremont, arriving around
lunch time.
Option 2 – Riders can pre-register with Tim Salmon, phone (03) 6249 0240 business hours, to be
transported to Oatlands via coach. Departure time from the Cadbury factory will be at 7.00 am,
arriving in Oatlands at approximately 8.15am. This group will then join the peloton and head back
to the Cadbury factory, departing Oatlands at 9.00am, arriving at around lunch time. Numbers are
limited to 40 for this option.
This ride requires a reasonable level of fitness and competency on a bike. The ride will follow the
Midlands Highway before joining the Old Main Road at Granton.
A barbeque and refreshments will be provided on arrival at the Cadbury factory at the conclusion of
the ride.
Saturday 26th February 2011
Have an opportunity to ride shoulder to shoulder with some of our State’s political, sports and
media leaders, as well as with Graeme from the Cadbury factory at Claremont to the Hobart
Cenotaph at the Domain. Follow the Inter-city Cycleway.
Registrations open on the day at the Cadbury factory. Registrations close at 8.30 am. The ride will
depart at 9.00 am and should take 1 hour. This ride will be perfect for families or casual riders.
Sunday 27th February 2011
An opportunity exists for riders to ride with Graeme from the Granton turnoff at Bridgewater Bridge
to ride to Hamilton via New Norfolk. Riders are responsible to make their own way to and from the
start and finish stages. The ride will depart the turnoff at 9.00am.
All rides cost a donation of $10 per rider, $25 per family of 4, $5 for children under 15.
All money raised goes the Graeme Milburn Ride Tasmania 2011.
All riders are to provide their own bikes and safety gear. It is recommended that riders hold
sufficient bicycle insurance.

Sounds good! Unfortunately I'll be on a walk from Thursday to Sunday, so won't be able to make it... :(
