Re: Easter Dome ridesIf I can make it to the Anzac ride I will, Ill be in Bruny, Saturday/Sunday.
Master6 are you racing in Oatlands? ![]()
Re: Easter Dome rides
Only if the handicapper starts me in front of you, so I can grab your wheel on the way and get a good sit all the way home
Re: Easter Dome ridesVery enjoyable Dome ride today. Grasstree, Brinktop, Penna, Midway Point, Canbridge, Tunnel hill, coffee at the best place in town; Dome Sandy Bay
Another ride planned for Easter Monday; where to? Dunno, cant read Daisys mind
Re: Easter Dome ridesI had a good couple of rides over Easter, did a recee course of the Oatlands race, then rode down to Bruny on Saturday, around Bruny on Sunday, and did Commando route yesterday.
Great weather shame I missed out on the Dome rides....but there is always this Sat ![]()
Re: Easter Dome ridesBetter watch you Rob........all this training!
Dome did commando course in reverse yesterday. I am told it was reverse. Anti clockwise makes more sense to me.
Re: Easter Dome ridesOnly the shortended version though I discovered today...didnt include Blackmans/Howden/ turned back up lesley Vale rd and back over Bonnet so no Longley or Neika.
Im only trying to match you!! ![]()
Re: Easter Dome ridesmy commando....only cause i dont really want to go the gravel
hobart, bonnet, blackmans bay, tinder box - chuck a u turn once you hit the gravel, left at blackmans bay to howden, margate, longley, hobart i have heard that the REAL COMMANDO is the same but you just go on the gravel from tinderbox to howden when do we stop for coffee???
Re: Easter Dome ridesAre maps available for all 20 commando courses?
Re: Easter Dome ridesi have just realised that i may have opened up a can of worms re The Comando
there 3 Cammoand myths 1 - clock wise or anti clock wise 2 - route 3 - where did the name come from these things cannot be debated as there are no answers and that is why there is sooo much prestige when do we stop for coffee???
Re: Easter Dome rides
Perhaps it should be renamed, to accurately reflect the position. I suggest it be known as "The Dogs Breakfast"
Re: Easter Dome rides
As far as I know the commando loop is up strickland to nieka, you can then go via leslie rd and back down to kingston or continue via longley and margate. What you have mentioned is the tinderbox loop. http://www.mapmyride.com/s/routes/view/ ... rt/1066195 Also I disagree with the best coffee in Hobart. But that is my preference.
Re: Easter Dome rides
come for a DOME ride and you will change your mind about the coffee....as it includes the club house and food when do we stop for coffee???
Re: Easter Dome ridesThe clockwise Commando is harder going from the city, over Bonnett, Mount Royal Rd, Blackmans Bay, Howden, Margate, Sandfly, Longley, Neika, Strickland, city. Thats the hardest way to ride with a 15km climb from Margate to Neika.
Of course if your truly a Commando you would also include Mt Wellington... ![]()
Re: Easter Dome rides
and you would do it in the dead of night
Easter Dome rides
Shhh a "halo" ride! Bianchi Via Nirone 7, Gitane & the Giant Boulder1
Re: Easter Dome ridesMany a good idea has come out of a ridiculous discussion. This has reminded me of a Midnight Century ride I did with Audax.
What about a Midnight ride over the REAL Commando course, including Mt Wellington? Would we be back too early for a Dome breakfast?
Re: Easter Dome ridesWell Marc and I have done Commando at night....broken chain x 2. Lights failed, so we had two lights between two bikes, epic ride....

Re: Easter Dome ridesYou forgot the big and pretty near invisible dog standing stock still in the middle of the road that we almost hit... Which then decided to have a bit of a woof...
Still young enough to win the Tour de France
