Taroona Bike LanesI'm sure a lot of you Hobart riders have complained about the Taroona bike lanes in the past. Here's my little whinge: http://marc.durdin.net/2011/08/hobart-b ... -bike.html

Re: Taroona Bike LanesI ride along this road most days of the week too.
For the moment, it's not such a big issue for me, as I ride a MTB, and can go over most obstacles. However, they do slow me down. As an ex-courier, I just try to stay as far to the left as possible. I believe that Kingborough council have been discussing the upgrade of the bicycle lanes, as well as including more around the Bonnet Hill area. They are a fairly progressive council with great support from Treadlies.
Re: Taroona Bike LanesDo you do bunny hops over the wheelie bins?
Yep, fat tyres certainly help on some of those obstacles but cars and wheelie bins are probably insurmountable for most unless your name happens to be Danny McAskill Still young enough to win the Tour de France
Re: Taroona Bike LanesSpeaking of bunny hops over wheelie bins, I was talking to my mate Roy today, and he casually mentioned that he managed a 900+mm (up) bunny hop a few years back!

Re: Taroona Bike LanesBeen a while since I looked at this
I'm now on a road bike, so I'm a bit more cautious of late. Mostly when it comes to those looonng cracks in the road from subsidence up past the Shot Tower. I have yet to come across those pesky wheelie bins
