Barry, glad you like the blog series :) You'll just have to wait and see on the top climb in Hobart! I'm thinking of making it Montpelier Retreat down at Salamanca, because I'll be too tired to do any of the others...

Did the Chimney Pot Hill today.
It's the third time I've been up to Ridgeway Road, but was not expecting the hell that was to come! Thanks for that.

It got a bit hairy half-way up the Chimney Pot Hill section. The road was damp (and mossy). I actually lost traction in one place!

Not much of a view: all I got was cloud :)

Great work Pete! I also did the climb again today, and it hurt a lot. I always forget just how hard the first part of the climb is. Didn't find the Chimney Pot section too bad really, but wasn't going all out up there... Did feel a little dizzy and sick at the top...

It was getting to the start that did me in.
You're right, you forget there's 150m climb just to get there.

well done. u need to start up another top ten marc. How about top ten things that sht me about cars?

anyhow. did ww road on my new roubaix (get one is all i can say) the 11-32 gearing on the back really helps. have never ridden to the top of the hill where the antenna is, and couldnt find the road when i rode it last night unfortunately. will try again

tried the the bonnet hill challenge and gave up after a couple of seconds (it threw out my rythem)

rode strickland but well behind the time of andrew crawley

Thanks Gordo :) Next top ten may be a long time coming; it's a lot of work! Roubaix a bit beyond my budget at present... and if you can beat Andrew Crawley's time up Strickland you'd be pretty darn quick.

Well written and photographed Marc 8) nice work :D

I was surprised to read that Mt Wellington tops out at 15%, I really didn't think it got that steep.

Can your young daughter really ride the last 2k  that is awesome :D

Waterworks sounds like a beast of a climb  maybe I'll get down there again sometime and give it a crack

Thanks for the series, really enjoyed it.

Thanks Chuck :) Mt Wellington is 15% at Shoobridge Bend. It's also about 40% just before you get to the Chalet. At least, that's how it feels to me. Re my daughter, yes, she did (with a couple of rests): http://app.strava.com/rides/750852

I love Old Farm Road. It's steep and has a huge payoff at the end.
If you're on a mountain bike, continue up past the gate. I might suggest going the fire trail, instead of Old Farm Track - it's insanely steep and flat-out dangerous coming down!
When I discovered it a while back, I was torn on whether to tell everyone, or keep it to myself ;)

The best thing about this climb is you can smash it out and still have loads of time for Strickland. Or, you could do a bunch of repeats, if you're mad...
