Beating my own drum here but I've just started a little blog series that some of you may enjoy criticising: Hobart's Top Ten Climbs (according to me)

See you out there somewhere!

Is the zig zag reference to Nelson Rd? I slowly climbed that sucker on Sunday for the first time, I really cannot climb.

You'll have to wait and see :) I reckon the next post may find its way online in about 2 days... Unless I get impatient!

nice! :D

I like that you have decent directions, makes it easier for us rubber neckers to find/complete.... I won't be doing 5 reps in a lunchbreak though.....

Thanks :) But I realised yesterday when I went and did the climb again, that I really send you around the long way... I've tweaked the directions on the blog post!

Did the climb X3 last night, I know it's not 5 but 3 is enough for now, I will build up to 5. 15% section put the burn in ya legs.

Awesome work doggatas -- the first time up that 15% pinch I don't find it too bad... but by #3 a lot of willpower is needed to keep powering up it for sure :) If I hadn't publicly set the 5X challenge, I would have turned around after #3 myself. Note to self: better go and check the next post in the series to make sure I haven't made any other silly challenges...

haha, Just don't do Mt Wellington until last, that will give me time to loose a few more Kg's and build some fitness. :)

Between Marc and Strava , they have me totally addicted to these hill climb/segments.

Great motivational tool , for me anyway.

Even had a go at one of the off road ones today.

The climb from Glenorchy MTB park , up the cross country course , then green corps track to the top of the hill.

Thanks again Marc to clueing me in to this.

Gets me out on the bikes more often , and gets me pushing harder than I would otherwise have been.

I mostly ride by myself , so this sort of thing really keeps me motivated. :D

The next episode is now online: Strickland Ave. Your challenge in this episode is to beat the KOM by Andrew Crawley of 10:48 - Brewery to the top of Strickland Ave, that's an average speed of 25.4 km/h. Should be a piece of cake.

I've just gone and updated each post with a specific challenge. Some of them were already hinted at in this thread... Some of the challenges are achievable by mere mortals, others ... not so much. Which can you do?

Challenge: ride this climb entirely over your heart rate anaerobic threshold (that is, in your red zone).
Your anaerobic threshold, is 84-90% of your maximum heart rate, not your red zone, Zone 6 94-100% of your heart rate would the red zone and you only last very very short periods, 2-3 seconds in this zone, the red zone. Maybe change to riding in your anaerobic threshold zone.. :o

Rob, we are going to need proof of that. Please provide a link to the relevant Strava effort with cadence data attached. :)
