If you wanted to drive unduly close to cyclists, you probably would do it in some non descript white clunker.

It was very surprising to have it happen when a fellow overtook in a British Racing Green 1978 open topped MG sports car, with plates ending in "1978". No cars in other lane. Cyclists were all on sealed apron, and the car was almost on the left white line.

A local car , I think, as I have seen it around.

Not the sort of car you forget.

Found another one.
Black Holden Captiva. Rego C79JF
Cut me off at traffic lights then tailgated whoever was in his way, including me (I was doing 50ish).
Wasn't shy with the horn either

I appreciate the work done by our Police Force, however there is a limit to what they can do, and evidence is an important factor. If calling 131444 is likely to give you some satisfaction, do it. When I think about the instances that have caused me concern over the last few years, I cant think of one where I could back up a complaint with evidence that would be useful. That might change in future with bicycle mounted cameras. I have reported one motorist to the Littering Hotline after a drink can was thrown at me from a vehicle. I was subsequently advised that a written warning was issued as a result.

You are correct that evidence is required before action can be taken, but little pieces of information held on a database can help build a bigger picture for police. One can only hope that the information is stored and "history" is taken into account where a caution may be considered for a traffic offence in the future.

Looks we're starting our own 'Moronic Motorist' thread...

'k'n tradies in white vans. One nearly had me under his wheels in Bellerive village this afternoon. Act one, performed in the middle of the road- dead centre- Stop, start, stop start. Act two, swing hard left into driveway. Thankfully I was expecting him to be a stereotype, unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get his number and there was no company signwriting. That's two in two days. Wish I'd had my camera onboard.

Edit: Not to mention the idiot on the moped I nearly had a head-on with around a blind corner on the bike path at Kangaroo Bay...

Cheers

No johnm_oz, in starting this thread I had no intention of starting a "moronic motorist anything". There is nothing more boring than the one hundredth blow by blow desciption of some incident between two other individuals. I even get sick of hearing my own reports :D

I will let you work out what my aim was........................I hope someones aim is good :D
