Postby BenevolantDictatorD » Fri Nov 02, 2012 1:06 pm

Time to start picking up a few kilometres ahead of the Fondo and the Dash.

Leaving Station St Moonah, at the little shelter beside the bike track, at 8:00 am.
Heading through Granton, Norfy to Hollow Tree Road just short of Hamilton.
Coffee in Bothwell.
Down the hill to Melton Mowbray and back via Granton again.

165kms out and back. 135kms from Granton.

All welcome.

And a good ride it was in the gloriuos sunshine and rural countryside.

We managed five starters and it ws reasnonably hard work into the wind to Norfick. Alan turned around at that point and we soldiered on. The train tracks at Lawitta scored another victim with JRod buckling a back wheel after it slipped into the crack. He stayed upridght but the wheel was a bit sad. And then there was three. The wind died off and we tootled along at talking pace. Lunch in Bothwell and then the magic downhill to Melton Mowbray. The sea breeze kicked in at around Berriedale and that didn't help.

Good miles in the legs. A good sign for the Dash.

Twas a great ride until those dastardly train tracks ruined it. Though in fairness, I was warned of them more than once.

The wheel got me home, but sadly looks to be a write off. Spoke tension is too all over the place in all the wrong places.

Thanks for organising a great little adventure ride though :-)
