Am I the only one in here!

Postby heavymetal » Thu Jun 12, 2008 8:16 pm

Very shortly I will be a Tasmanian again. :D

Is there not anyone else in here? My bikes are disassembled and packed so I can't ride for the next few weeks.

At least one good thing about moving from WA, I'll have electricity and gas supplies! :D

Kev

Permanently this time though. :D There are no mountains to ride up in WA.

Thanks, that is on the list when I ride down to Hobart. However the descent might wear out another set of brake pads.

just found this. San Fransisco, the home of "hills". Go to the bottom, do a 180 and look up the hill. Would hate to be a messenger there.

It's back for good for me. :D It's my last night on the net in WA. Next time I appear, I'll be back in Tassie.

I just got an email from the local cycling club (NW) and they said membership costs a massive $1 (one) per year. :D

That's a recreational riding group not a racing group. Couldn't see me racing

Will do. Keep an eye out for an old codger on a green Mongoose Randonneur, with bright yellow panniers and an oversupply of water bottles :D

I'll be around Burnie area, but will venture all the way around Tassie once I get settled.

The bikes are packed, and the BOB trailer is packed. Just hope they make it OK.

Pushing a 30K dial up connection. 5 kms east of Burnie and no net.

The bikes made it however the tourer sustained a bent rear derailleur. Complete lack of parts for bikes here. Still trying to locate some mudguards :?

KMart in Burnie seems well stocked. I finally found a larger version of the bell/compass that I have been looking for, for some time. Also got a new mirror

Also got some weird looks riding a loaded tourer up the Bass Hwy. I've still got the full water carrying rig attached to the bike

Managed to max out a new high speed on this tourer at 86 k going down a big hill.

I've got to get some warmer clothes though. Touring sandals with wool socks and over boots works better than MTB shoes.

With no net, ordering parts is going to be a headache.

It's good to see a couple of active BNA members in the NW of Tassie. I visit Burnie at least every 12 months for work and know the area pretty well. I really like it down there. Great riding when it isn't raining or the wind isn't blowing you off the bike :) The hill up to Upper Burnie would be fun

I saw a guy riding in the rain wearing a yellow rain coat on the Hwy just out of Burnie when I was down there in July. Could it have been one of you guys?

I did a bit of dirt bike riding (motorbike) in the forest around Winyard when I was there last year. Heaps of nice tracks and hill climbs hey. That clay is greasy when it's wet too :D
