It's almost like he's got a thing for Colnagos lol.
I could play the game too, but it doesn't matter how many you have, Apollos and Shoguns don't make a winning hand .

So I have an Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra, SLX. Seattube 64cm c-c and toptube 58cm c-c, how did this bike end up so short?
Still waiting for some parts, havent ridden it yet.

These dimensions have me wondering if your Merckx frame was custom built for a tall guy with proportionally and unusually longer legs than his body? Eddy would build frames to suit an individual or even a body positional theory he may be investigating. I wonder if your frame was an old trade team frame?Matsbjorn wrote:So I have an Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra, SLX. Seattube 64cm c-c and toptube 58cm c-c, how did this bike end up so short?

I love the blue Merckx Criterium frame by the way. I hold Merckx frames in very high regard and yours, Steely, is in the colour scheme I would prefer too. I'd say it will prove to be a little 'twitchy' to ride and you will have to concentrate a little more on maintaining a straight line as it will easily wonder about.

Hello Australia!
Sorry for the dig, but it's a beautiful bike...and needs explaining
Y7CX A5079:
Y - Eddy Merckx Cycles employee code
7 - seat tube length (c-c) = 57 cm
CX - Criterium model designation
A5079 - serial number, frame built in summer 1987
Frame parts confirming the dating:
"thick" seat stays + "large" seat stay cap - elements used up to and including 1987
brake bridge "Silva 3" introduced from 1987
Criterium model introduced in spring 1986 (together with "gold stickers" for Corsa, Corsa Extra and Criterium models), regular production ended in 1988, but it was available on order at least until 1991
