Ugly looking thing.
Early Campag Chorus 8 speed groupset ...fairly weathered but for the price, nice.

That looks like it would restore pretty nicely. No frame size measurements given though and it looks a tad small for me.

How good are people here at guessing frame sizes from pictures.
I'd guess about 56 to 57 cm square (c-c)?

^ I'd take a stab at 56. Anything under $100 would be a good buy I reckon.

The group set alone would be worth $150+, the frame $200. If it was near me I'd be all over it. The only down side for me is that I prefer bikes with pantos. I've been had once buying a bike that appeared on Ebay as a moser. I didn't inspect before-hand, it had lots of patina and campy group set. On picking it up it was oblivious that it wasn't a Moser. The seller appeared to be genuine and because it was my fault in not inspecting before buying, I paid for it. This bike seems to have original paint and of a reasonable quality, so probably 'right'. I do doubt the tubing sticker though.

Maybe. If it works. Doesn't appear to be in the best condition and it's only Veloce/Mirage level stuff. As far as the frame is concerned it has a bit of rust to clean up and as you say, there's no panto's so it doesn't get collectors excited. Anyway, we all know complete bikes sell for less than the sum of their parts...contrary to what many Gumtree/ebay sellers seem to think. I'll be interested to see what it goes for.

This Tom Wallace Special has got to be fake. Question is why would you go to such effort on a Touristar frame?

Tom Wallace lived from 1902 till 1981 so would have been in his 70s

Could still have been making bikes, but not that one. I suspect the shop was still running & did the 70s thing of putting their stickers on a cheap frame

My thoughts exactly. I've seen that bike on facebook and bit my tongue. There is perhaps a chance that Mr Wallace may have been near it at some point, but he sure as hell didn't build it.

Actually, Tom Wallace Cycles is still running. It sells Giants now, but it is still on the main road in Lutwyche, where it has been since the 1970s.

This seems very reasonable considering the desirability. Any Sydney forumites keen on saving this one?

Who's going to save this one? Looks pretty early. Not sure about the dent in the top tube though ...

Looks to be genuine vintage Atala under this repaint and generic stickers. Early 50's perhaps? Too small for me :(

That's an interesting one. Genuine vintage Italian for sure, hand painted - Aussie style. Wonder what the name on the top tube is?

I've got a very similar frame that's a Vincar - try finding that one, is surprisingly light for which is pretty much a roadster equivalent.
