In the post above the Apollo is listed as very good condition for age! I did laugh a little.

Mmm. But it's not too rough, and pretty-well all there.

A weekend's work and a good clean-up, and it would make a good ride-to-work bike.

But not at that price, for an Apollo I.
I don't care if it's a $20 Huffy or a $20k Colnago, as long as you're riding, and you're happy.

Kuwahara Lo-Pro with Suntour Sprint. I would get this myself if it were a touch smaller. I think it's got a 700c rear wheel and a 27" front wheel. I wonder which size wheel the frame was made for.

Cheap Alan. Pretty sure it has been listed on gumtree before

What makes you say that?

That article is posted in the ebay ad.
You reckon if Jack said it was then that's that?
(I don't know anything of Jack Walsh besides what the seller sprouts)
Jack was a clever man when it came to business. From the articles I've read and the tales I've heard from those who knew and raced with him, I suspect the bike was just a random bike used as a publicity stunt to get customers to his store. I called by his store a few times and yes the bike looked the part but who was still alive to confirm his claims?

Karen.

I live the Q&A about the weight of the bike.

Q: How heavy is the bike?
A: 8.4kgs with the attached stand.

Q: You sure? as the steelie would be the same weight as my full carbon 60cm frame road bike.
A: Yes, weighed it this morning, 8.4kgs

Ha He posted a pic of the scales showing 8.4kg! I should get myself onto those scales!

Obviously needs to sell the bike to buy new scales that work.

I'd have thought it was weighing in kg (yes I know kg are not a measure of weight, they are a unit of mass) treating them as pounds and converting to kg again.

With no-one on the scales they would read approx -6kg.

To be fair he's probably just an idiot who hasn't realised that when he put the bike on the scales it was balancing on its back wheel still or something like that.

Why would anyone care about the weight of a DeVille? It's a base line model from the 1980's made from gas pipe. Actually why anyone cares about the weight of a steel bike is beyond me.

Lots of people care about weight. If you had no idea of the model designation then the weight could be useful to help work out if the bike is decent or junk.

That is lovely, although I'm not so sure about the carbon bar. Replace that with say a Nitto Urban Riser or maybe something with a bit of sweep like the Nordeast and that would set it off beautifully.

They didn't sell (or get relisted).

Morini, I didn't go to Goulburn for a look. That would have been sending a boy to do a mans job. To me it looked oldish, smallish and bike ish. Beyond that ..?

I work on the principle that if it's older than 1975 I don't need to own it or know anything about it. It looked ready for the tip in my opinion but then someone would have found it, had no idea, joined up here and then we'd be back into it again.
