It's a pity the pics don't show the full setup clearly, I'd be interested to see more.lilcuda wrote:Im guessing this was maybe a circus bike , lots of points for balance with many passengers .BRLVR.v2 wrote:What Tha??? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage-Malv ... 827wt_1397" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Don't normally like Colnago's, but I like that. It must be the Superbe Pro bits.munga wrote:

This one is 2 suburbs away. My size. Just not in a position to do anything about it, for a number of reasons. Could walk there, with a couple of pedals, and ride it home.Velo13 wrote:I am with you Scott, give me a Merckx any day (please), but that is nice.singlespeedscott wrote:Don't normally like Colnago's, but I like that. Looks like some assh^H^H^H^Henterprising person has snagged it only to triple the price and re-list:

Thankfully it's just a Taiwanese cheapie, not an exotic Concorde like some of the others.

We have a little one riding one of these on the velodrome. We had to create a new pee-wee category for her. Now we have other kids joining in.Dan wrote:Overpriced? You tell me... http://bit.ly/TFVVfw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They should have this listed as "tarck bike - fixie, fixie, fixie"

wouldn't buy without some clearer drive-side images, though.bigfriendlyvegan wrote:We have a little one riding one of these on the velodrome. We had to create a new pee-wee category for her. "Opportunity presents itself" to purchase a "Retro Steel Framed Bike" stickers claim it is a "Miyata".
=>> But...I'm a little skeptical as to whether it is a genuine Miyata (maybe a wanna bee racer has removed identifying stickers etc so that it might...on first glance.... be considered a "Team Miyata".
The Serial Number format does not line up with:
Miyata Serial Nos
=>> there is no alphabetical letter at the start of the serial No.
=>> The serial Number located on the non drive side of the "Seat Tube" just above the bottom bracket.
? Does anyone know....
a) Is the http://vintagemiyatabicycles" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; post correct re Miyata Serial Numbers starting with an Alphabetic prefix indicating the year?
b) Where is the serial number supposed to be on a Miyata Frame....is the location non drive side of the "Seat Tube" just above the bottom bracket correct?
Referring to:
1993 Miyata Cat
"Pg25" which is Pg 27of 32 of the electronic file
Specs are very similar to a 1993 "FIVE 12" - 14 Speed
=>> But Color is Dark Grey & Mauve. Fork is Dark Grey
Frame ? CrMo no Sticker
Fork Unicrown ? CrMo but no Sticker (Unrelated damaged "SILCA" Sticker on Fork)
Stays Forged Ends - BUT no provision for rear axle alignment grub screws.
Dual H20 Mounts
Crank 300Ex Bio (Egg shape) 52 42
Rear Der - Shimano Exage 300Ex
Front Der - Shimano Exage 300Ex
Shifters - Down Tube Mount Shimano Light Action & SIS 7Sp
Brake Levers - Shimano Exage
Brakes - Shimano 300Ex
Rims - Velocity Deep V Australia Made 32 Spoke (Suggest after market Retro fits)
Front Hub - Shimano 105
Rear Hub - Shimano RX 5000
7Sp close ratio cluster
Weight 11kg on Park Tools Scales
Other oddities...
Handle bars are cheap plain steel
Head set looks cheap and nasty chrome steel ie not Shimano or sealed unit that I would have expected on a quality bike.
c) Did the Miyata "FIVE 12 14 Speed earlier or later than 1993 equivalent" come in "Dark Grey fork & front 1/2 of bike" & "Mauve seat tube, seat stays & chain stays" two tone Paint?
d) What diameter seat post should a "FIVE 12 14SPeed earlier or later than 1993 equivalent CrMo Miyata" have?
Comments/thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

I take it from your questions that you've picked up the frame is a bin job, not a salvageable job?munga wrote:was hoping to win this damaged bike by seller: rosehipcollectibles2
