At least the starting bid on the "rare" bike isn't ridiculous... and he deserves some kudos for not putting the "f" word in the ad anywhere.familyguy wrote:Hey, check it out, this one is VERY RARE (arent they all?)...but I reckon its rarity is that it hasnt rusted beyond all hope of safety and been dumped by the side of the road ten years ago.

If I may have an opinion, I'd say that's just what regular lugs look like
Thanks,

I thought, in this context, that "lugs" were the things where the tubes of the frame meet? You know, the things that hold the frame together before it is brazed... These things:brentono wrote:Nice One, Torana68 "fully lugged" (now is that regular lugged or track?)

But of course, you'd know this, having spent your whole life in frame factories...
I eagerly await your posting the photo of you & your Bates in front of the family XL again to prove me wrong.

"The frame and forkes are fully lugged" as stated in the ad description.
Also another mis-nomer commonly used, horizontal dropouts (even Sheldon, god-forbid)
Drops-outs, as a type of fork end that allows the rear wheel to be removed without derailing the chain first,
then they can't be horizontal-dropouts, obviously.
Are you stalking me you sad loser
Fact is I was laughing with Torana68, at the "fully lugged"
Cheers

Hard to tell from the small photo, but yes, the front forks look (fully) lugged. Not like he's claiming the "dropouts" are lugged.brentono wrote:"The frame and forkes are fully lugged" as stated in the ad description.
Would be a pain to source BB's & headsets that would fit these old bikes I'd assume - and can't say I'd trust the old girl enough to stomp down on the pedals hill climbing. Only interest I'd have in such an oldie would be to hang above the mantle - in which case, it wouldn't be powdercoated .

Though the constant sad, mindless, chatter from rkelsen, might lead you to believe I know nothing,brendan03 wrote:Hard to tell from the small photo, but yes, the front forks look (fully) lugged. and maybe I don't.
But to let you know Brendan03, the "lug" as you put it, on the front forks, is called a Crown, and in my day Double-Crowns were very popular.
"She" stated many things that got a laugh, Traklite, not sure that's even a brand, or even a builder's name, could be a model. (I've not heard of it, maybe?)
"It has horizontal drop outs (see photo)"... they're not!
"And The frame has some dimples due to its age" don't think frames do that, maybe? but I know my bum does!
Anyway, thanks Torana68.
Cheers,
BrentonO

Ahhh.... the perfect ebay customer - they can't tell by looking at the twenty close-up, clearly lit and photographed pictures !!!Zero - ebay item 320502294278 wrote:Hi there, This bike you have restored is gorgeous. I was wondering if I was to win the auction, would it be if I was to pay extra to have some breaks fitted? Also, is this a single speed bike or fixed? I am a novice and can't tell by just looking at the pics. Thanks again! Zero
Kerchiiiing $$$ - another gay 'fixie' rider on another 'gorgeous' clunker.....
Pity melb.vint.bikes didn't get some of these reproduction MS decals being sold in a neighbouring suburb to put on the bike before the seller pulled all items from ebay due to threat of legal action for infringing on numerous copyrights.....

Oh, comon. I think the broad use of the term "lug" can acceptably be applied to the juncture of fork tubes and crown. Lug is an english word you know - not an industry created "brand" with one specific application. It's also a wise idea on an eBay listings to advertise to the layman, since learned people like yourself are not likely the target audience.brentono wrote:But to let you know Brendan03, the "lug" as you put it, on the front forks, is called a Crown, and in my day Double-Crowns were very popular.
