The dude selling it was a little odd. Not sure if it was a case of lost in translation or not... No phone calls only random emails. I gave up when it became a case of you have to meet at my work place Tuesday midday and you have to buy everything but don't call mefeelthewheel wrote:Did any of the Melbourne forumites manage to snaffle this one?:

Where do you find the room? Bring it down to Lidcombe in the Spring and I'll give it a ride around for you. We had a guy recently who showed up with a 50s reno'd speedwell with 105 bits on it. Rode like a dream.Johnj wrote:This one's a pure track bike and never been drilled for brakes. I'm allergic to riding brakeless fixies on the road, but my plans this year include some track riding. So yes, it'll get used, but only on the track.QuangVuong wrote:Good to hear! Gonna ever ride that?
It may, or may not, make a static appearance at Tempe on Saturday to keep my other Bol D'or company.

Yes, don't think English was his first language. I got the same odd treatment. Pity, because I would have driven to Melbourne to get it. The braze-on tab underneath near to the headtube made me think it may have been a team issue/professional. Just hope whoever bought it doesn't butcher or powdercoat it hot pink ... sigh.Sd wrote:The dude selling it was a little odd. Not sure if it was a case of lost in translation or not... Aaaaaand here's the Zeus:familyguy wrote:http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lemond-racin ... _500wt_998
Disclaimer: I do know the seller, and have no vested interest in seeing him make/lose money on this. Either price is pretty hopeful I think. Quality frames are getting rarer, but not this rare yet. I do look forward to seeing his Zeus come up, even though it will be too small for me.

I did a quick count, 7 bikes in the lounge rooom (8 if you count my wife's exercise bike), 3 on the back verandah, 1 in the study and erm.... some more in the shed . The 3 on the back verandah are slated to be sold at the swap meet on Saturday, which will generate some brownie points for me.bigfriendlyvegan wrote:Where do you find the room? I'm planning on doing some riding in RAW as part of the Red Scourge, so this one might get an outing before spring.

Looks like BSA ToB lugwork and forks that I have seen but that pattern was not totally unique to BSA. He has a few of the components wrong if he was aiming for a 1950's model.LG wrote:This looks like an interesting build with nice parts. Described as 'Rebuilt as a 1950s BSA Tour of Britain', interesting to hear what it was before powdercoating and new decals assuming it wasn't originally this model http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BSA-Tour-of- ... 20d0943537" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
However, I think you might find the paintwork is a bit higher class than powdercoating....
Cheers
