that said, it is rare I suppose...
This is kind of funny as I just pulled my asc out of a pile of junk I've had for years in orde to fix it up. Came from a bloke who raced in England before cming to Australia mid fifties and mine is dated 1952 so I'd guess he broke it down and brought it with him as a prized item. I doubt it has been used since and had some very ugly looking oil in it. Looking forward toseeing how it works if I can get it back together!! They do actually seem to be rare though I remember reading on the Sunrace blogsite that they were going to make a new one.
Yes, that's right, you can buy a new 3-speed fixed Sturmey again from Sunrace for about $130 I believe. In lots of different colours if you so wish. I thought that would kill the silly prices for the ASC gears but they seem to have achieved icon status (or they are not selling  ) While originality is nice I would prefer a new one for a 'rider' restoration.
Cheers
Richard

Not eBay but plenty of comical stuff on Gumtree as well: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/melbourn ... 1004911704

"Vintage Genuine" ...well it's not a fake Repco, I'll give him that.
"High End/ Collectable" ...no not really, middle of the range, common as muck.
"very light - Japanese Quality at its best!" ...it's all relative, compared to a Traveller I guess it's light.
"You wont find anything that comes close at this price range!" ...no I'm pretty sure you'll find something much better at *that* price range.
"High end Japanese cro-molly steel" ...not quite.
"Just had it checked and serviced ... (paid over $120)" ...aaaahhhh an $120 service increases a bike's value by at least double.
'Very rare and highly soughtafter" ...barely ever see Superlite's around.
"Very light high quality steel" ...we've been through this.
"Very nice high end custom tyres" ...what's custom about crusty old gumwalls? 20 years of artisinal grime & hardened rubber?
"will continue to appreciate in value over time" ...might make your great, great grand kids rich some day if the rust doesn't get to it first.
"wont last at this price" ...we'll wait to see it re-listed at ever decreasing prices lest some clueless hipster bites. Wait a minute, maybe this guy is onto something... :D

*all in good fun. I've got no problem with Superlites, my Olympic 12 is barely a step above, I just wouldn't pay $350 for one.

Thanks Munga,

Should have read the rules before I posted links to my auctions, Sorry, thanks again to the mod(s) for not deleting the post.

Here is a thread on the rust that the Condor has:
http://www.bicycles.net.au/forums/viewt ... 23&t=30265
The result of the above thread was that I decided I liked the Patina and left it as is. It's been dry-stored for the last year. I'd keep it if I could get my fiance comfortable on skinny tyres, unfortunately she's been spoilt by wide slicks and the suspension on her Giant hybrid/commuter.

Nice; and realistic starting price. And willing to freight.
Have had recent good experience with e-go freight, depot-to-depot.Pretty reasonable rates.
Well, no, it's not a pushbike, otherwise I'd be pushing it...

For fans of Sydney bikes, an early 1960s SJH roadster now on auction.

Disclosure: I've been in email contact with the owner, but no stake in this sale. Just want to see it go to a good home. :)

Don't you love the way some people when they sell stuff they post 2, 3, 4 or 6 photographs. All of the same thing. Now why is that?

Nice elderley guy sold it to me for $80. I dont have my camera with me but its in top condition. Deore XT Light action all round, Miyata triple butted tubing and few other tasty bits. It would make a great tourer. Ill post pics when I get a camera.

Hopeless pics, but a Viscount(Sebring?) in Melb. Has the dreaded, 'tops-squeezer' brake extensions, but looks like a fairly pristine mid-70s Sebring to me, in a larger size. I used to own one, which I gave to lovemiyata a few months back. A fair-to-middling HiTen, I think, (doubt it was CroMoly).
They couldn't have taken worse pics if they'd set their minds to it. Some morons to be taken quiet advantage of, methinks.

.... looks like the original Araya, slightly contoured, box section rims. Doubt it's seen many road miles.
Well, no, it's not a pushbike, otherwise I'd be pushing it...

 those photos. Definitely a Sebring, looks identical to the one i got from Servicimo a little while ago, with the exception of the brake levers. Not sure if the rear derailleur has been changed for a later one, looks more like an 80s Exage 300EX than the 70s 500 mine has. I don't know what kind of tubing it is but it's no gaspipe, much lighter than that (though definitely not butted).

Lovely pink Repco Traveller going on Gumtree Perth. Price is a bit steep but someone after a smaller frame might think it's worth it just for the color.

I doubt whether those pre-TREK LeMonds come up here in Aust. Did someone ever bring them in? The TREK-era one I've got was brought in by Clarence St Cyc. That is a nice looking bike though, munga.
