Spectacular. collection of a lifetime. That Drillium Ottusi is just ridiculous, they even put holes in the saddle! The hours and hours and hours involved in that bike are mind boggling.peterk wrote:Some beautiful steel rides by this seller for those with cash to spare.

...They're all big too.
I call dibs on the Herse and the curly stays Hetchins.
And take a look at the lugs on the purple '52 Hetchins track bike. Psychedelic.

A nice looking Cecil Walker 853
Munga? (Right up your alley size, style and Dura Ace 7400 wise, price wise...Maybe not.)

Intrigue abounds! It certainly has the more-to-this-than-meets-the-eye feel about it; whole pile of ostensibly beautiful bikes, all with flat (or no) tyres and rather casually dumped in front of a cheap looking panel wall. And then there's the stratospheric staring bids...toff wrote:There has been a bit of discussion on the Classic Rendezvous mailing list about this seller. Apparently he is selling someone else's collection of old bikes. Some bikes (especially the 1972 Pantographata one) have dubious provenance. Look at the pics, but don't believe the stories the guy is spouting, according to the inside word...peterk wrote:Some beautiful steel rides by this seller for those with cash to spare.

These auctions have def drummed up a lot of conversation between the knoweledgables on CR List.... But the general consensus is that they won't make 1/3 let alone 1/2 of the starting bids....RobertFrith wrote:Intrigue abounds! Also quite strange that this seller is selling them all at the same time and flooding the market... Thought it would be much smarter to drip feed them but anyway....
Same should be happening soon with a whole heap of Bikes from a French collection that was recently raped by 2 eBay sellers after the collector past away and his widow didn't understand what she had...

It doesn't look like he's touting much by way of provenance (except on that 72 you mentioned) aside from "this is a 19xx such and such". Am I missing something? Are they the wrong years? wrong parts lists? Looks like absolute top dollar starts, nothing I'm in the market for, and I'm no super-retrophile so I could be missing the obvious.toff wrote:There has been a bit of discussion on the Classic Rendezvous mailing list about this seller. Saw: "Reserve the right to remove listing prior to end of auction as its listed for sale elsewhere." and expected it to be pulled before auction end.

$200 that was a steel. Those Mavic Ellipse track wheels are worth more than that by themselves.

Miyata 414 probably? Not worth the start price with that paint job. If it had have been original, maybe, but def. not worth the BIN.Semar wrote:Tis guy thinks he's done this bike a favour.
