Actually that one looks pretty good. What size do you reckon the frame is? I am guessing 56 ...kinda hoping it might be a 54.

"bike frame Kennards Renalds 501". Given the inability to type Kenevans or Reynolds, I wouldn't put much faith in the description of 58cm. Still to big for me though

QuangVuong wrote:And is this the real deal? Apparent a Kerry Hopkins. I know he's a frame builder, but what tubing did he use? Theres not that much info at all on him.
I can't tell you too much about Kerry but most of his bikes I have seen were Reynolds. I had some interaction with a car in the late 90s while riding a Gemini Club Ultegra (531C) and I took it to Kerry and he replaced the top tube and forks and it was good as new. At the time he worked out of ABC Bikes at Liverpool.

Why not? They work just fine even if they are desperately untrendy at the moment.

Yes a nice real old quality bike I would say. Pity it's pick up only and I already have three sheds of bikes!

I used to race on a Hillman in the 70's and I still ride a very similar Hillman today which I renovated in 2000. New paint, bearings, chain, rear cluster, cables, bar tape, brake hoods and wheels and away it's gone for another four years and 14,000km so far so good

Perth people, don't know about the price but look closely at horizontal dropouts, nice lugs and non-bang-in headseat. Could be a decent vintage frame behind all those rubbish parts?

Anyone have any Joytech hub / Araya 700C wheels they don't need?

They work beautifully IME, there's only really one reason why not, if you aren't conscious of where your knees are while pedalling out of the saddle, you can bump the lever and spit the chain off the end of the freewheel. Ask me how I know....

Stem shifters were not cool when I was a kid, there were stories about sudden stops and severe testicular injuries  .

Reminiscent of a 1970's Sandman panel wagon. Very cool.

I'm with you fellas. I have been thinking it's about time that stem shifters got some love. I love riding my boat anchor malvern star sportstar with stem shifters. But I normally see them as seventies or eighties. What is that bike and are the stem shifters original?

That's a beautiful old light weight road bike, probably built around the late 50's early 60's.
Originally the levers would have been mounted on the main bar or handlebar end mounted.

Too small for me, otherwise there's no way I'd be listing it here....
