Nice, but a bit rich at $60

This is interesting... Early 70s rando style thing. Some really early Japanese stuff mixed in with the usual European components, I've never seen high quality Sugino cottered cranks before. Don't know anything about Royal Star apart from the obvious British name. Cinelli Campion Del Monde bar is an odd choice for a touring/randonneur, such deep drops!

Also - now THAT is a Shogun Metro. :D I built a Metro 'ghetto grinder', handled like a fridge as you'd expect.

*edit* Sorry, sorry I keep finding cool stuff.

Somebody jump on this Centurion Tri Master, it's a fair price. It's hard to see past the bars but there is a really nice bike behind them

Ah, that's nice. Beautifully kept Nishiki

Bridgestone's are quite rare in Aus, and this Bridgestone Spica is actually a fairly nicely specced bike. Google it and you will see people in the states have done some good things with them.
But where is Beechboro?...

1988 Tommasini.

Oh gee, three posts in a row... Gumtree hath delivered today.

If you're 5 foot 9 get down to McKinnon. This guy has two very interesting bikes for sale:
Touring bike made out of Reynolds 531ST, 'handbuilt wheels' with a nice fork rake. 53cm is too small for anybody I know, otherwise I'd be game.
touring bicycle

Also a Hillman MTB, with the highly collectable Deore XT thumbies, handbuilt wheels and Blackburn racks.

Plenty of nice bikes to be found in Melbourne. To bad nice bikes have been a bit thin on the ground in Brisvegas of late. :(

I think it's a grass is greener thing - Any nice bikes I find always seem to be up your way, while anything in Melbourne is twice as expensive and half as good. Those two being the exception...

Highly collectable you say, I think I might have a pair of those lying around :) .

I know I have a Blackburn rack, are they a good thing? (and what makes a rack good anyway?) I've got an old Australian made tourer frame that i'll probably use it on when I get around to it.

Legendary among retro grouches. $64.75 USD seems to be about the average for used ones, there's a few nicer sets that sold for $90 :| It's the best that Thumb Shifters ever got before Shimano brought out trigger shifters, which need replacing every 3 years and make lots of money in aftermarket repairs... That's if you subscribe to the great Bicycle Components Conspiracy Theory...

You bet I do! That's my thinking behind the big switch away from 27" wheels in the late 80s, I love them just as much as I love thumb shifters on a MTB.

Lo Res photos …maybe a 1989 REPCO Eurosport Tria?

Looks like a lowish end Repco; 90's Superlight type? Brake calipers and levers and RD gives it away..

Damnit. Just remembered I'm (meant to be) searching for a touring bike for a friend, that one I posted yesterday was perfect... Sold. I need to write these things down.

*edit update* Contacted seller and he withdrew it due to a crack in the frame - what a pity.

Anyone lucky enough to pick up this Alan for $100?

Looks like a 25" frame sounds fancy....Whats a Decarlo worth?

Some suggest not much
Others suggest even less

Any Idea of the frame tubing?
....at $30 it would make donor period 105 kit.

 It's the mythical half-decent DeCarlo!!! I KNEW there had to be such a thing! Hard to tell from those photos but I don't reckon those are pressed dropouts, in which case i'd guess at some plain gauge Tange?

Not a snowball's chance in hell of being worth $300 though  .

Any BNA'ers near Richmond VIC who could pick up a frame for me and put it to one side while I work out how to get it back to Brisbane? Karma, return favour sort of setup?

Missed it by ->||<- this much.

I'm driving through Richmond on my convoluted route to the airport, to fly to Brisbane this arvo.

Already done the online check-in thing with no checked baggage :(

Next time... give me more than an hours notice and we might be able to work something out

I think I'd better give it a miss anyway for the sake of my household finances, but if anyone down that way is interested ... GT Pantera early 90s frame going for a song.
