I think this seems closer to WW1 vintage than WW2. Looks a rare beastie. Sad too small for me.

Another Paino Softride. Reynolds 708 with a 1055 groupset. Looks very similar to my old one.

Cheap Nitto 66 seatpost

I am surprised this is still up on Gumtree. Any giants here after a nice Hopkins

Reynolds 653 La Vie Claire Look with almost all of a Sante groupset. Someone stuck some RX100 STIs onto it though. Dude wants $600 for it. I'd pay half, but I seriously shouldn't buy any more bikes.

NOS ATP Stem. I think the Adelaide members know who the seller is. It'll be good to see what the stem plug looks like inside, but it is stuck in there.

Tassie McBain? track tandem. Needs a set of seat stays and it'll be good to go. I know almost nothing about tandems. but could it be a DIY job? Both BB shells look like standard shells.

Trial bike

Comes complete with the reduced wheelbase forks for a tighter turning circle, and a curvy front cable routing, so that front and rear brakes have the same amount of cable drag.

Cheers,

Very solid looking derailleur protector on that, i wouldn't have thought it would be necessary with a SunTour Honor  .

Spotted this bike back in June on Ebay and was tempted but convinced myself it was a little too small. It ended going for single bid of $25. The ebay link is dead but I saved some pics as I gave it some serious consideration.

Image

Then noticed it was relisted on ebay for $70 and went for $73.

It's up again on Gumtree, this time for an appreciable $180

Note to mods: the posting has auto linked to any mention of the word ebay even though I clearly haven't. What's up with that?

I suspect it is something to do with E[vil]bay Partner Network.
When the word e[vil]bay is entered, the platform software recognises the word and automatically creates a link to the previously nominated section of the 'popular on-line auction site'.
From any purchases that are made from that event, affiliate fees are paid the the Forum hosts. The same goes with the advertisements to the right of the frame----->
Helps offset the considerable running costs of the Forum, so it keeps it free for us to use. :)

If the auto recognising and auto linking annoy you then use the common workarounds as I did.
It doesn't work in the forum titles nor in the signatures, just in the forum posts.
not only for e[vil]bay but others though each affiliate program:
ebay
ribble
wiggle
chain reaction

+1 Clydesdale Scot

It's also perhaps partially why some of us jaded forumites often substitute our own little 'euphemisms' like Fleabay / E[vil]bay etc. Not because we're sarcastic or cynical or anything ;)

My mate messaged him and asked was $1750 the real price or did he make a mistake.

His repsonses indicated he didn't have a clue(if any confirmation of that was really required).

Small time profiteering, seems to happen quite a lot. I imagine people do this to pass the time as there's not a lot of money in it especially once you factor in the pick up / delivery costs associated with acquiring a bicycle.

Grumbles aside, I really like the detail in the decals with Bellbird, foliage and sky. Kudos to the re-seller for the half decent photos at least ;)

Interestingly, the frame makers wife was a champion cyclist

The bike is 1920s to 1930s
Seriously, does anyone believe it's 1920s? The original listing with the derailleur gears looked more recent to me.

About the same number that believe the 1920s - 1930s were only 50 years ago

I reckon there is a fair chance it is pre WW2 with those fancy lugs and the square shouldered head lugs.
It looked a steal for the original price (I only resisted cos I'm not in Melb).
