I like Singular's and this is not a bad build but Old Mate is asking retail. If the bike actually fit me I'd pop for $1,200 given that Larry is off loading the frameset for around $500 at the moment and the V Blunt wheelset is worth about the same.LugNut wrote: Singular Peregrine
I didn't even know about Singular until I saw this, what a beautiful bike. Asking too much IMO, the build spec is not particularly nice and pre dates the frame. Still, somebody might be willing to snap it up for that, I know Scott was looking for something similar.

I'd buy that for the pedals alone, the rest of the bike's pretty tempting tooQuangVuong wrote:$150 Trek 2300 with 105/RX100 mix! Looks in great condition too.

I got all excited! Frame is 900 marked down to 700. Still, I punched the numbers and he's asking a fair bit more than it's worth in bits.silentbutdeadly wrote:Larry is off loading the frameset for around $500 at the momentLugNut wrote: Singular Peregrine

I'd probably +1 for $1200.

Damn, I'd jump at the frameset at around $500, disc braked FG goodnessLugNut wrote:I got all excited! Frame is 900 marked down to 700. "Old School Japanese Bike" no other information, 1 half decent photo.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Oldschool-Ja ... true&rt=nc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I threw down a tentative bid of $99, and won it for that. I think this is the third time that I have been to Frankston to pick up a bike, and the third time that I have forgotten that Frankston is way way further away than I assume it is. After nearly an hour in the car I arrived in Franga, chatted to the seller, handed over the money, and left without so much as a glance at the bike, as I wanted to save the weirdo-beardo excitement bit for when I was alone.
As I wheeled it away to the car I snuck a peak at it, and sure enough I spotted that the riser bars were made by Nitto! Although I was dying to get down on all fours and drool over the bike right there in the driveway, I let the excitement simmer and walked back to the car without glancing at it again. When I leaned it against the gutter for a proper gaze, I spent a good 10 minutes admiring it.
Nitto riser Bars
Nitto Pearl 8 stem (bling bling! Already a bargain)
Suntour XC front hub, front and rear Araya rims, good condition Panaracer front tyre. Always a nice bonus to get a good tyre.
Deore drivetrain and canti brakes, crappy replacement RD. Meh. I will probably swap to indexed gearing anyway.
Sugino Super Maxy triple cranks, the nice 50.4 BCD version.
Sugino seat post, and a really nice Suntour quick release seat post binder bolt to top it all off.
Here's a few photos snapped in the shed. Frame is made from Tange Champion 'Motocross' steel, It has an Araya badge on the head tube, and I can see the remains of an Araya sticker on the down tube, I would take a swing at Kuwahara made but I really don't know. Super nice anyway! The camera flash accentuates the scratches, the scratches on the bars are actually hardly noticeable.
it will have a new home with a close friend as a Bike Packing dirt tourer.

Is that MTB any special? My mate has a Apollo Himalaya with the Exage parts together with what looks to be the original gumwall tyres in perfect condition. I reckon I can trade it with some new Kmart MTBSO or a small amount of cash.Kermit TF wrote:Hmmm Id be all over that MTB if it where 1000kms further south

Ditto, if it were about 3,500/4,000km Sou'Sou'West or so Looks a reasonable sized frame for those clearances.Kermit TF wrote:Hmmm Id be all over that MTB if it where 1000kms further south

They're not 650b sized wheels by any chance are they?

The kozciuosko was one of the earliest mtb availabe in Oz.. And not many survive..Other than that, its a bit low spec.QuangVuong wrote:Is that MTB any special? So if I want a nice classic MTB, I should grab my mate's Himalaya, before he chucks it out or something?Rob74 wrote: MTB’s that year were:

The Cascade was made by Kuwahara for the US and Canadian markets, hence the Cascade name, and where sold there as Apollo's as well. I think Apollo Australia just grabbed some for themselves to sell here. From what I can workout the Aussie and US bikes are identical.LG wrote:Well I take issue with Apollo's naming protocol. No way the Cascade Mtn's should top the Himalaya .

You're right, the eBay grass is looking pretty green in Melbourne this week, it's vintage MTB galore.singlespeedscott wrote:LugNut wrote: Recon firming my belief that the place has all the good stuff.

Peugeot Hurricane
I just assumed the wheels were 26", I will double check though - 650B would be a pleasant surprise. I'll snap a few pictures once I clean it up a little bit, it's next (ish) in the build queue.
