This bike caught my attention a while back on GTree with a ridiculous price of $3,000 and listed a few more times at lower amounts.

It then went to fBay and was sold three times to a buyer with 0 purchase history here,
here and here.

It's back up on fBay again with it's location as Quzhou which is quite a long way to travel from Southbank :)

That current listing is a scam.

The previous "legit" listings were pretty much a scam too with the fake bids

For tandem lovers Vintage Blackman Tandem Bicycle - too big for me or I wouldn't be listing it here.
Image
Interesting chainring - looks to be a 1/2 step & then what is either a serious bailout gear or second timing chain.

There was a notice in the local paper for a clearing sale on the weekend, 26" fat bikes new in boxes, Giants, Azzurris, Colnagos, and the big one, a Tom Wallace tandem!

Trouble was, my old man didn't tell me about it until 4 hours AFTER the auction was due to start :(

might be a hint that you have enough bikes already (in his view)

No he just forgot. My mother on the other hand...

I found a photo of said Tom Wallace tandem, looks ok but not spectacular so i feel a bit better about missing the sale.

I'd have thought that you'd be more disappointed about the Miele triplet, at least in a year or so...

That one is a beauty Bruce. If it was in Melbourne I'd be all over it despite my lack of need, or a stoker who can really fit (my wife would need the saddle sitting on the top tube). The half-step and granny chainrings were a common enough setup on touring bikes. They work well with larger jumps between cogs on the rear. I would expect that the cluster is a 14-28. As you would know, when you need low gears on a tandem, you really need low gears.

Cheers,

Cameron

Nothing fancy but rare all the same, a Guthrie era "Swift". From the photos it looks to be identical to the Madison SR10, i'm guessing Guthrie were doing some British Leyland type badge engineering :)

Lugless Arrow for $350 in Mt Gambier

Maybe not as impressive as the Super Speed that sold for$1,225 recently, but very nice nonetheless.

Some crackers up for Auction in Adelaide this Thursday.

I especially like the Lenroc.
Image

Internet tells me it was sold by Scammells back in 2012 and was billed as a 1916 Lenroc Professional Grade Reynolds 531 - looks like it's picked up a bit a rust since then...

Perth built Arrow. Seller says '50s but it looks much older to me. Dawes saddle seems wrong but otherwise it looks original (and worn). Lousy photos make it hard to judge condition and the asking price of $550 is optimistic methinks.

Interesting looking frame? Looks like bonded Aluminium, but is the main triangle carbon?

Very good buy at that price, looks like it would come up a treat with some TLC.
