Fellow cyclaphiliacs please help reassure me that I'm not yet descending into dementia.

This Malvern Star sl500 is up on the fleaBay priced at $445 in serviced/restored in original format condition (whatever that may mean) :

Is the seller delusional or am I missing something...?

Your faculties are not deserting you, unlike that seller's  . You see it over and over again, people who seem to think that anything branded as Malvern Star is automatically collectible and valuable.

Hi, can anybody explain for me why the yellow Malvern Star is a dud buy? Is it a relatively common bike, or a lemon, or what? It does seem over priced, but is there something I'm missing?
Thanks, Eugene

No, it's not a lemon. In fact, I'm sure it'd be a perfectly reliable bike... But it's not worth anywhere near the asking price.

Those bikes were low end, being approximately the equivalent of a department store bike.

i couldn't believe this one:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/KENEVENS-vi ... 3467644415

a lazy $8K, with low end running gear.
The seller claims it was built to be used by the 1992 Olympic cycling team....

I love bold claims like that without any supporting evidence or explanation. 8 large, some people try it on, don’t they?

If I could get $8k for Rx100 bits, I'd be larfing.
Not that I have anything against Rx100, quite like it, but it ain't what you'd find on an $8k cycle

Cheap Euro trash, rideable for sure but.....“Both these stunning bikes are rare and a once in a lifetime oportunity to own a much sought after fast appreciating collectable head turner. Open to reasonable offers.”
Is OTT rubbish , spose people fall for it though :(
Ozpushies! for ALL Australian made bikes.

They actually look to be in quite good nick. In the absence of a price, is hard to say. Depends how realistic the seller is, although down here that Mixte would probably sell fairly easily.
