I agree with you 100% on that.singlespeedscott wrote:I actually like this more. A much better price too.xerlex wrote:Totally. A much nicer 700c Routens sold for around the $2000 mark about 6 months ago. As nice as Routens stuff was, it has nowhere near the collectability of a Rene Herse and the seller is asking Herse money.peterk wrote:unrealistic?

My post about this bike has been pulled by the moderators due to the fact I defamed the guy, I should have said in my opinion the guy is........etc.
Oh, and received a warning.
I've tried to play by the rules, occasionally I slip up, maybe I'll just stick to myself in future.

Disagreed. This became the "hey let's all post random eBay/gumtree links" thread a LONG LONG time ago. Much easier to keep it all in the one location.tripstobaltimore wrote:Agreed. +1, the bikes are nice (not my cup of tea, Colnagos and the like do nothing for me) but over $3,000 each is silly IMO.Crowz wrote:Over $3g a bike though? Dreaming.amrjon wrote:Check out this little lot.

I dunno, he is in Europe and if he has a reputation as someone who restores bikes to as new (or keeps them as new which is better) like the Farrens here in Australia, then $3000 (say 2000 sterling?) is not too bad. They aren't making these any more and you can't buy very much in a modern bike for that sort of cash.Crowz wrote:Over $3g a bike though? Dreaming.amrjon wrote:Check out this little lot.

We tend to be a bit on the Scrooge side here in Oz and don't differentiate much between immaculate and 'slightly scuffy' with older bikes.
Slightly surprised he has put them on e-bay instead of using a proper specialist auction house if he really wanted to sell.
Cheers

Did you specifically tell the buyer you knew the bike was damaged? Your bike, your sale, and all that, but that's just bad karma man.akq wrote:Buyer came and had a good look at it before bidding and also on pick up and was obviously clued up on what to look at
