i recall the bike had stem shifters, so in the interest of fashion, i move them down to the downtube.
sure, it crimped the tube a bit, but i looked so much cooler!

Am I correct in assuming that the wheel & hub came from another bike ? The reason I ask is that I am struggling to imagine anyone building a bike with no brakes and a freewheel hubVern Stralam wrote:Track restoration project

During the 1950's, practically every bike made in Australia had rear-facing ends. Probably not the original wheels.

Ebay hall of fame.
I've noticed that some people list items to get extra search hits by writing "NOT Brand1 Brand2 Brand3"
Quite clever...

It is one of thethings that really gets up my nose - I can understand it if you have some obscure brand that is of a similar standard, but most of the time it is some BSO that the person is worth more than $2.50.sunho wrote:I've noticed that some people list items to get extra search hits by writing "NOT Brand1 Brand2 Brand3"

So putting "NOT Brand1 Brand2 Brand3" is most likely to result in me filtering your ad out completely

Well, I think roadster is a bit cruelscratchman wrote:Yep, I think you're right, maybe dual purpose club racer at bestrkelsen wrote:I don't think that's a track bike. Look at the geometry. It screams "roadster".

Probably a lower/mid level racer/sports? Remember that a lot of brakes from this period (Philco, Resilion etc) did not require drillings to mount and and there were also people rode high quality bicycles around the countryside but didn't regard racing as the be-all and end-all of cycling
Cheers

Likely just covering the costs of the "recent service" which looking at the chain and cluster, didn't extend that farfind_bruce wrote:An interesting strategy.

yeah, i've been trying to tell him that, I think he's measuring it to the seat tube collar and not C-C, either that or his tape measure is f*cked..dunno...I tried to ride it about 4 years ago when he built it and it was way too little for me...Stuey wrote:Nice bike...but surely that's not a 56cm C-C seat tube? Looks more like 52 or even less.

Yep I posted a link to it on the Europa thread. That ofmega stuff looks pretty cool to me.frailer5 wrote:Suppose most here have seen the small green Europa (Columbus tubing) in Melb. Here's a nice looking Raleigh Comp, just up the road from me as it happens http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... TQ:AU:1123" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The description is hilarious. Hand operated brakes ftw.
