No spreading as such, just dropped the wheel in and there was a slight rub with the cassette and the RD hanger (this is a 92 CX frame). Just needed a quick file down on the inside of the RD hanger and all was good.

They really are a unique riding bike, very soft but in a subtle way not bouncing you all over the place.
I find it's a great combo for commutes and light trail/road trips. I may look though for a carbon 1 inch threaded fork with canti bosses
as the cantis tend to give a bit of a fork shudder under hard braking with the Alu fork.

Cheers

"A classic high quality racing bike" with suicide brakes, stem shifters & try-hard bars thrown in for good measure. I particularly like how he photographs it against a rusty fence so the state of the chain doesn't stand out.

Did an eyeroll on that one as well. 60~70% of ads are by flipwits like that.
Well, no, it's not a pushbike, otherwise I'd be pushing it...

I finally had a win as a seller, sold the Repco Preset i bought new for $98 last year as i just wasn't riding it as much as my other bikes, i'd swapped the tyres for Michelins, switched from flats to drops but i had all those bits on hand anyway. Went for $150. :)

If truth be told I probably only look at bikes like this to see if they are worthy of this thread. Sadly most are mediocre in the medocrity

*Shudder* Not to THAT extent.
I'm barely good enough to be in the "hack snapper" class and I wouldn't have allowed those pics to have left the camera.

I'm looking at a bike on Flea Bay...possibly the 1986/87 third unicorn.

Looking at the bid history
e***g (546*)
=>> You have bid on seven (7) sports bikes in the last 30 days...are you a forum member? If you are on here, what is your success rate? Are you building another shed considering you have bid on three (3) sports bikes in the last 24Hrs?

Not bad. I've let my (small) female co-worker know. She's vaguely on the lookout.

Hard to say from the pics but i can see stem shifters and a claw mount for the rear derailleur, so i would expect it's like the other "commemorative" MS that appeared on here a few pages back, just an ordinary old clunker.

BY NO MEANS JUNK. In fact, its the nicest frameset I've seen in a long time.

The quick and the dead. Was picked up this morning by about 8AM, from what I can gather. They seller kindly SMS'd me to let me know, as I'd signalled interest last night.

Possibly someone here. Well done, whoever it was.

... and just as well some of us here don't think like the seller here
The bike was given to me, but being in the senior/retirement age bracket and not having ridden a bike for 40 or so years, I have decided that something a little less "racey" is probably better (safer!!) for me.

Interesting brake levers. And any idea what that rear derailleur is? I would have guessed a Tourney or RS but there's a cut out in the body.
