i looked this up and was curious about the "gas mask grips" so when i googled that i came across this- http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/mob/col ... 6&img=6529" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I am very pleased to say I scored this bike. Yes the frame number is mid 30's and the block lettering is pre 1939. Original, clean and unmolested. Very collectible. Gotta be happy with that!

So long as it's pre 1939 I am happy. Sometimes it good to put a bit of chrome back in your life rather that remnants of nickel.

my guess is that its a catalogue photo (no pedals in pic) that has had the background edited in photoshop, and not very well done either.

That's exactly like mine, a blue Centurion Equalizer... Its probably my Cen. that you've seen in the Cen. appreciation thread.
Bought mine new in 1993 & this is the first time I've ever seen another one just like it.
If drivers and riders spent more time worrying about their responsibilities than their rights then roads would be far safer.

Crikey that's generous of you mark, i would have said it looks like a dog's breakfast. After the dog's eaten it! The seller's dreaming if they really reckon they'll get a grand for it.

I think he got this image
downsized it to a thumbnail, then upsized it to get the pixelation thing going, then did multiple magic wand selections, then painted the selection with black, then cropped.
certainly not the image to capture your imagination, or one to get you clicking on the buy now button.
and his third image looks like a degraded version of this photo

A nice bike indeed :lol: :wink: , but sadly surplus to requirements at the moment. Took it for a 50km ride round the dirt back roads of Marion Bay a few days ago and enjoyed every moment of it.

Is 24K gold hard enough to make a bike frame out of? I'd have thought it'd be too soft?

Know what you're trying to say here, but no. Ally frame.

Might as well be made from real 24k tho', never getting ridden by a normal human. I mean, gold rotors and cassette?
Maybe it was the Sultan of Brunei's dunger?

when you read the entire listing description it quickly becomes less rediculous, as its reason for being made become obvious. its sale will go to a charity, i doubt it was made to be ridden. which is a good thing, and one things for sure- when it ends up on the hard rubbish pile, someone will be very lucky. it reminds me of the line Arnie says to the alien in Predator when he sees it without its face mask on for the first time- you know the one :wink:

I hope you're looking for new Super Record and not the old stuff, I am having a fun time searching as it is without more competition.
