Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
I doubt whether those pre-TREK LeMonds come up here in Aust. Did someone ever bring them in? The TREK-era one I've got was brought in by Clarence St Cyc. That is a nice looking bike though, munga. Ever noticed how quiet steel bikes are?
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?i'm biased, as i have a le vanquer myself. there's definitely a few pre-trek lemond's around, but not a lot - mainly team z versions, like this:

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Hi I'm just wondering if this might be a fake? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... TQ:US:1123
I cant see much in the way of clover leaf stamped lugs, BB etc.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?i see club cutout on headtube lug, and colnago stamping on dropouts.
not sure which model, but looks legit to me. internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?It has the pantographed fork, a cloverleaf cutout on the downtube/head lug and Colnago dropouts. Normally, it be case closed...
But it has fresh paint and chrome. I'd steer clear. volutamus scandemus
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Thanks. Other frames I'd seen on ebay had stuff stamped all over them, under the bottom bracket etc. I was a bit suss on the fresh paint and wondered if they'd just put a colnago fork on a different frame (didnt see the dropouts - my eyesight must be getting worse). Thanks again

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Would it matter? I have a real one and I rarely ride it because its not that great a bike. I see myself squarely in the Copperart school of Art though... ie: if I like it it is nice. If its crap I don't care who made it!

I had one in this colour till a year or 2 back. Sure enough, I think this buyer will be lucky to get a third of the asking. But this must be the biggest 51cm frame they ever made! More likely the XL frame. I just can't work out what they could have measured to get 51cm.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?maybe 61cm.
funny to see what ppl think bikes are worth, isn't it? i sold an olympic 12 in vgc for less than half that, and i still think i did ok. so does the new owner. win/win! internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Holly snapping duck shite Batman
It's a touring frame, got nice new tyres, new chain, new bar tape (the extra comfy stuff), everything just adjusted, lube & checked, one owner (since I bought it), only ridden to Mayne (daily), serviced regularly (since I've owned it for the last 3 weeks), & for just another $200 000 I'll chuck in a bridge across Sydney harbour I don't need any more, oh & I have $500 000 000 my rich african uncle left me, but I can't get it out of the country, if you give me your bank account details I'll transfer the funds into your account & give you 10%. What??????? No body believes me, honest injun's, trust me I'm a doctor.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Same seller, cant get more polar opposite on features or price. Maybe if he/she reversed the prices?

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Good god they're STILL trying to sell that Europa? Surely the listing fees would be about equal to the asking price by now.
As for that Diamondback, that's a weird one, welded carbon fibre? When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments- Elizabeth West.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Lovely marketing speak - seems they had crabon fibre tubes glued into welded lugs. A magnet would confirm which is which, but I would guess the red bits are steel & the black bits crabon I would be just a little bit concerned about V brake levers with canti centre pull brakes - I thought they used different pull ratios, but could be wrong I was going to buy a fast, stylish bike, but I looked in the mirror & thought "you're not fooling anyone, you know"
