Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Non original paint, no decals, looks like the drive side rear dropout has been hit with an angle grinder, but it is a 5 star Malvern Star. Monetary value is a very subjective thing.

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Dunno about the grinder bit. Derailleur hangers are not often found on Aussie made frames from that period.
But yeah, value is certainly subjective. I'm surprised it went so cheaply, given the crazy money I've seen these things fetch in the past. Also agree that the paintjob devalues it significantly. volutamus scandemus
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk? The grinder mark looks pretty obvious, you can see where the cut is not parallel to the dropout. It should look something like the one in this link

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Sorry, I missed the close-up photo of the dropout. It definitely has been hit with something. By a blind person, apparently.

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Off topic, but i really like the feel of the tektros. Can't go wrong for $25 a pop or whatever they are. But yes, $1000 o_O I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?I don't know this guy, but "nixbikes" on ebay seems to have some nice rides ranging from old 1970s Raleigh Grand Prix & 1980 Gitane road racers
for a pretty competitive price! I was going to head down for a test ride. Anyone else seen these bikes?

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
I'm going to call this and say if you want to sell your stuff, post it in the marketplace rather than sending us off to your eBay sales. I may be wrong, but I don't think I am, somehow. I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.

PFFFT, if he's the guy who is pedlin this abomination http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Classic-Vint ... 2c6846ff71 than kick him in the nuts when you are there. Total F'n retard.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
I think the decimal point in that particular listing is off by at least two places... I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Yeah, kick him in the nuts twice. "Abomination" doesn't even begin to describe the ugliness of that thing. It's a hastily cobbled up collection of cheap rubbish. volutamus scandemus
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?that said, I've got more than the $29.00 I paid worth's of value out of my Shun single speed crankset.
I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?+1 on shun cranks, but they have no place on that skidstar, especially not at $1,500. And drop bars

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk? This seriously wants to make me put (passable) rubber on Ricky Ricardo and set him off at $500 Buy it Now. Madness. What next - cats and dogs living together in harmony? Sheesh...

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Well I honestly thought the Raleigh was alright.
Lucky for me I picked up a newer shogun katana (not the ones made in Japan) and but in Great condition for sub100. Ebay is so hard to find anything that is good value. Most of them seem to be good scalpers who want to rip you off or pretend to know nothing about bikes. And no, I'm not nixbikes, and in no way related to him! Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Im actually beginning to think prices are starting to drop on eBay. I seem to be picking up things for less and the stuff I sell seems to go for less what I was getting 18-24 months ago.

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?I agree. (Having just bought something off Scott on ebay two days ago) The better end stuff, like Campag, seems to be much cheaper than it was a year ago.
Maybe all the collectors have finished their various restorations and rebuilds and it's just a lull in proceedings? I might actually be able to buy some now.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Well as a seller, i can say with some confidence that the market is absolutely dead, i've found it all but impossible to sell stuff at any price, let alone what i think is reasonable.
