The seller hasn't worked out that 'fixie' is so yesterday, if he had said 'CX' it'd be worth triple the money.

Not offering to post it to Australia at this time - I'd not thought it would be very heavy - it could perhaps be sent as a soft copy.

Should email the auction number to that guy who wants $1600 for his 5 star rust pile.

Not much rust this time, but I have some doubts regarding its legality.

It's only been tested for 10 minutes. That'd be about how long it takes to irritate someone enough to sic the cops onto the owner.

You're not sure whether petrol powered bikes are beyond the law- don't you read the articles on BNA ?

I found something even more rare than a genuine 5 star - someone who still thinks Armstrong won the Tdf 7 times

He has come up a couple of times before, the yellow roller door is quite distinctive :) I think it's more a matter of clearing out superseded models with cheap or out dated groups than ex training bikes - that primavera is a good example of a 3 year old Taiwanese frame with old DA brifters and slightly newer Ultegra moving parts and pretty basic wheels. Its no bargain atmo.

And there's a pinny FP1 with tiagra - oh the humanity!

Isn't that one of those "Bratz" thingies that were sooo popular with pre teen girls for about 17 seconds back in the day?

I'm impressed - they actually managed to stay on top of that thing for 17 seconds. I'm guessing that at around the 18 second mark there was much crying and a need for copious amounts of mercurochrome.

The value of rust remains bouyant.

Although with a bit of work it'd be a nice bike, the initial cost seems a tad steep.

It was originally listed with a starting bid of $0.99 but then it seems it was pulled as a result of this "question" :
Q: hi not sure if you know but your bike is a malvern star 2 star roadster from either the 50s or 60s 3 spd sturmey archer rear hub will have a date in it and is worth heaps, people sell the frames for $700 only i hope you dont sell it for 99c ?
A: Wow. I had no idea. Thankyou kindly for letting me know!! I will check the date on the frame and add it to the listing tonight.

I'm now watching it with considerable interest, $1,200 - he's got to be dreaming.

But hey I could be wrong.

Regular story: ask the questions, ask the value, then sell, sell, sell.

Yes, it is my bike.

eBay ad updated. Its a 1956 2-Star.

I put it up for 99c as a starting bid to get the interest. Had 18 people watching it within the first 12 hours!
So decided to do my research.

$1200 could be a lot, or it could be what someone is willing to pay.

Otherwise, happy to hear offers :)

lol, worth about 10% of that, imo. i think you're getting your 2-stars and your 5-stars mixed up. you can buy a complete original 5-star on ebay right now for around $1200..

I would prefer Silverlight's 4 Star. And it does have a leather seat.
The familiar brick wall used as a backdrop is missing from this set of shots from Mario.
