eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?A bit of quality for a change after all the overpriced rust.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Benotto-BOVO-Columbus-steel-tubing-Campagnolo-Super-Record-ITM-/321063530399?pt=Road_Bikes&hash=item4ac0e0af9f It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Beats me, at the moment it's on what i recently got for a fully restored early 90s Peugeot Iseran which was a heck of a lot better quality than that. When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments- Elizabeth West.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Check the vendor's name. The buyer says "Darling, Ok if we pick up a cheap bike from a Chippendale when we're out on the weekend? " Like the rest of you are saying, it can't be the bike that's exciting the bids.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Because retro bikes are the latest must have yuppie accessory in their inner city 'apartments' (flats), it's not good enough to have a $30K Vengie thingie on top of your $200K Euro AWD, you have to have a retro bike leaning up against the wall in your 'sitting room' (lounge room), otherwise what will all your yuppie friends have to talk about when they come around. "Oh that old thing, yeah you know, I just found it in the council clean up & thought it would be a nice cheap ornament" (after they've spent $5K on a full resto).
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
so now those of us who have always had old bikes and love them for what they are will get labeled as yuppies can't wait for this " latest must have " to die out ( shouldn't take long ) I couldn't get the brakes on my bike to work so I got a really loud horn, crisis over!
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
What time is it now? How do ya reckon ya look if ya own a fleet of retro bikes, I'm pretty bad but ldr must be the yuppie king.

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
Nah, if we are counting bikes as a 'yuppie-indicator' then I must so far into yuppie-dom that I am out the other side into straight-on weirdness... Cheers Richard
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk? This would look grand on any mantelpiece
But seriously if I had the time and money it would be great resto project. a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Damnit, that blue Paconi roadie in Geelong just went for a steal: $315!
Double bugger since I'm visiting family in Geelong this week & could've easily collected it and taken it back to Perth on Sunday. Head tube suggested it was a size too small, bank account said "AAAARRRRGGGHHHHH", I guess it was for the best. Anyone on here grab it?
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk? This Campione is a smidgin too big for me, or I'd be around there to look. (2 suburbs away). Someone in Sydney may be interested; and also explain whether there was an attempted 'fixie fix'? Unlike fleabay, it's Bing_Lee negotiable, so could be obtainable for less. Not being familiar with the make, don't know where it sits in the gallery, but looks nice enough. Crap photos.
Is it gas-pipe? Ever noticed how quiet steel bikes are?
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk? The listing says 'divison of bianchi', looks a cut above gas pipe IMO.
My first thought was the Champione brand that sells Columbus stainless frames, made in china or taiwan. When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments- Elizabeth West.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Agreed Cray per my post Thu Jan 31, 2013 10:35 pm
ding ding ding.... Team-Paconi =>> not me it was too small. In comparison to the Neglected Clamont at $285 the Team-Paconi was a far better buy Rob
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?RE: team paconi, seller said it was owned by "G. Maloney", which could be Gordon Maloney?
i was kinda half interested, but buying bikes unseen is a bit of a risk sometimes, esp. from a vague ebay seller. internet experts: ruining bikes since '10 | http://www.redbubble.com/people/munga
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
I would have thought this was a trade frame from Campione Cycles in Geelomg. Pretty easy to check. I think they were made by Technotrat, so in other words they're Europa siblings. A pretty useful bike for half that price.
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk? Here's a bargain
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/marrickv ... 1013742887 and another, a Ricardo and an Apollo 3 with fantastic ape hangers $80. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/clevelan ... 013570016#

Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
I thought the the shogun samurai looked familiar I was going to buy a fast, stylish bike, but I looked in the mirror & thought "you're not fooling anyone, you know"
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?Masi Gran Criterium. Undoubtedly nice, highly desirable.
But not with 3 crap photos and this asking price: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Masi-gran-cr ... 500wt_1035 Jim MY RIDES: My Velospace Profile
Re: eBay prices on the rise, good time to sell old junk?
TBH, I'd consider buying that at $300 and setting it up, but I don't need another track bike. More unicrown unholiness!! Jim MY RIDES: My Velospace Profile
