You described what I meant in a much more concise fashion.

It surprises me that ebay allows auctions with bids to be cancelled at all. I saw it happen just recently and was surprised.

Technically there are restrictions on when an auction can be canned, same with retracting a bid. Reality is it's difficult to prove when someone is abusing the system. Unfortunately knowing and proving are two different things.

& if, like me you don't know where gara fits in the Columbus tubing range, according to the bicycle info project
GARA Road set especially suited for amateur and touring cyclists who demand stout, lightweight racing frames. Cr Mo Steel - Weight: 2300 g
or about 375g heavier than Columbus SL

Why not set a realistic start price or list as BIN instead of yanking the auction if the bids aren't high enough?
I'd be pretty pissed if I had a bid on and the auction was pulled, regardless of perceived value or who the seller was. That's the nature of treebay - set a BIN and start price you're happy with, or sell via other means.
Often relists come as a result of failure to pay. I've had 6 of these in the last couple of months. Why people bid with no intention to pay has me buggered.

if he's pulling it repeatedly because the bids aren't high enough a day or a few hours before auction planned end time, he's unaware that for popular stuff like that there is quite often a doubling of the price in the last 30 seconds as the late manual bidders and snipers strike. It's rarely that the desired high price on interesting things turns up early enough for the vendor to be happy before getting the result email.

Maybe because they think about SWMBO's reaction after they've bid.

Yeah. They're highly "sort after..."

The reason for this is well beyond my understanding. They're cheaply made junk.

Anyone get the impression there are quite a few good to fair steelies appearing on fleabay in the last week? Yet, demand/bidding seems wildly random. Can't believe someone hasn't put a few pesos on top of the figure on this one Maybe it depends what state it's listed in, and what week. :|
Just noticing because on the lookout for a daily-rider 2nd-tier, but reasonable quality, 80s>early 90s.

My post about this bike has been pulled by the moderators due to the fact I defamed the guy, I should have said in my opinion the guy is........etc.

Oh, and received a warning.

I've tried to play by the rules, occasionally I slip up, maybe I'll just stick to myself in future.

No harm done in my opinion. The mods are just doing their job. This site has a standard and they keep it on track. No one has died............ I really appreciated you doing what you did because I was thinking of bidding, up until you showed all of us what was really on offer. You can now say you took one for the team. Top job.

Cheers
