Vintage, yesteryear and retro biking
Did any of the Melbourne forumites manage to snaffle this one?:

Looks to be a pretty sweet bargain. I missed out
Thanks Quang! This bike is now living at my house.
Good to hear! Gonna ever ride that?
nah, he grows hanging plants on his verandah.
This one's a pure track bike and never been drilled for brakes. I'm allergic to riding brakeless fixies on the road, but my plans this year include some track riding. So yes, it'll get used, but only on the track.
It may, or may not, make a static appearance at Tempe on Saturday to keep my other Bol D'or company.
The dude selling it was a little odd. Not sure if it was a case of lost in translation or not... No phone calls only random emails. I gave up when it became a case of you have to meet at my work place Tuesday midday and you have to buy everything but don't call me
Where do you find the room? Bring it down to Lidcombe in the Spring and I'll give it a ride around for you. We had a guy recently who showed up with a 50s reno'd speedwell with 105 bits on it. Rode like a dream.
Yes, don't think English was his first language. I got the same odd treatment. Pity, because I would have driven to Melbourne to get it. The braze-on tab underneath near to the headtube made me think it may have been a team issue/professional. Just hope whoever bought it doesn't butcher or powdercoat it hot pink ... sigh.
Too far to drive, but someone in the north of the state might be interested.
Aaaaaand here's the Zeus:

Want. Too rich for me.
I did a quick count, 7 bikes in the lounge rooom (8 if you count my wife's exercise bike), 3 on the back verandah, 1 in the study and erm.... some more in the shed . The 3 on the back verandah are slated to be sold at the swap meet on Saturday, which will generate some brownie points for me.
I'm planning on doing some riding in RAW as part of the Red Scourge, so this one might get an outing before spring.
eBay is painfully expensive at the moment, perhaps because it's the end of summer and start of uni.
Any looonng legged members in NSW interested in an excellent rando/tourer? I'd buy it if it were in Melbourne, I'm currently doing a Super Galaxy build and It's a nice bike. the good ones are always up north...

This looks like an interesting build with nice parts. Described as 'Rebuilt as a 1950s BSA Tour of Britain', interesting to hear what it was before powdercoating and new decals assuming it wasn't originally this model http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BSA-Tour-of- ... 20d0943537
yeah he's re-painted and doesn't want to go any further with it.... damn shame...
Anyone watching this, I know they are love or hate! I have no idea of what it would be worth?

Looks like BSA ToB lugwork and forks that I have seen but that pattern was not totally unique to BSA. He has a few of the components wrong if he was aiming for a 1950's model.
However, I think you might find the paintwork is a bit higher class than powdercoating....
Id snaffle that in a minute if it was within a 2-3 hr drive...just my size..
Also that Tour of Britain thingy is magnificent..try building it for under $700
I agree Richard, the paint looks better than powdercoat, he (or she) has done a great job, it's just powdercoating is mentioned in the description. I assume the black might be, with the white sprayed over the top? Whatever it is, the outcome is very effective.
too pricey for me.
Ah, the elusive vintage French Colnago. How I've searched...
Mudguards - check
Brakes - check
Stem Shifters - check
Gears - check
Reflectors - check
Yup - obviously a track bike
Nearly choked on my tea and toast when I saw this
