Yes, I shouldn't think too much about it, just makes me sad for the one that got away. It sold for less than I offered him after somebody convinced him the frame was damaged by the top tube being squashed in a bike stand (well the flattened top tube is a feature of the ALAN super records ), and I know I nearly got it for way less than I should have.... Moral of the story, if you don't know what your bike is worth, let the bidding take it's course.

Not sure what people think this Colnago is worth, but it'd be reachable from my place (Hornsby), albeit an hour's drive. If someone has their heart set on it, and their location is an issue, PM me, and we can work out a plan. Once it's in BNA Retro hands, it's just a matter of leisurely arrangements. I also have a bunch of work colleagues from the Central Coast, as I work in Mt Kuring-gai.
Bear in mind, looks like it's been in a maritime environment, so plenty of spotty rust to deal with, BTL.
I don't mind boxing it for pickup from my work. But am jumping ahead here...
Closer to 20~25 years, I woulda thought.

I was literally tripping over bare Alan frames at the Sydney classic bike show on Saturday ( a bit embarrassing but I'm sure they can cold set it). Seems there are a lot of them about. 50th anniversary gruppos were less thin on the ground though.

I have no idea who bought it, and to be honest, have no issue with whoever did. Just disappointment it wasn't me . I know what I offered which was relatively little, and the seller let me know he sold it for less.

lugs, seatstays, bottom bracket, stickers, fork. start there.
learn what a colnago should look like, then it's easier to dismiss the fakes.

With photos like that, it's had to tell anything, which can be a giveaway in itself. And then there's price.

Typically there's a lot of detailing on a Colnago but it will depend on the model - things to look for include pantographing on the fork crown (either clubs or the word colnago), lugs (HT) and seat stays, club shaped cut out in the bb, short wheelbase, dropouts - usually campagnolo or columbus, chrome bits, wacky tube profiles etc.
