You chose wisely, I was sorely tempted, especially at the bargain price.

Ahhh, there's nothing like a good poo brown rattlecan job to make you smile. Unfortunately, that is not a good poo brown rattlecan job.

What in Sheldons name has he done to the shifters?

Made them better, obviously!

I think this should be reported to the RSPCB - that bike is definitely mistreated

An eclectic mix, though One shouldn't just drill holes in a frame.

Half step Shimano cranks! Plus matching Deore pedals. Rad. I have seen gen 1 ( :?: ) Deore Derailleurs before, but I never realised that it was a full group set. If you do buy it Scott, I'm pretty sure I have a Fd/Rd plus Deore downtube shifters in much better nick than that, I'll pass them on if you would like the full set.

Looks like there's another hole drilled next to the seatpost on the top tube :( Why the hell would anybody do that?

Only ridden to church on sundays. 8)

I had one of these for a while, I saved it from the hard rubbish. mine came pre loved though, complete with 'customised' forks. Look mum, no hands! If anything it probably would have improved the handling.
I expected to sell it to a dragster/bmx collector or a tall bike builder, but alas it eventually sold to a guy who was purely interested in it to re live his childhood.
Conversation went something like this.
'So it's probably a 1974 mod-'
'Can I ride it?'
Uhh, well the tyres are flat, and as I said in the listing the stem bolt there is rounded off so the bars move, and the rear brake isn't conn....
'Sweet here's the cash thanks mate'
*Guy rides away*.

There has been a bit of discussion on the Classic Rendezvous mailing list about this seller. Apparently he is selling someone else's collection of old bikes. Some bikes (especially the 1972 Pantographata one) have dubious provenance. Look at the pics, but don't believe the stories the guy is spouting, according to the inside word...
