Found some photos and info searching through BNA postings as well as some more info on this site : http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/ ... meline.htm ...... if anyone is interested.
On this site it mentions that from 1949-1952 the frames had a separate seat tube collar, then in 1953 the "fast-back" seat post bolt system introduced. If this is correct it means it is pre 1954 . 1951 The Model C. Corsa (later known as Mod. Riviera). This would make it a 1952 model. re this seat bolt system . odds on I am wrong . Hopefully someone will step in and correct or confirm .
Notes:
- Cinelli would paint or chrome frames anyway the customer wanted through the 1970s (matching a color swatch sent by customer if need be, substituting a decal for the headbadge, deleting decals, chrome etc.).
- Mod. S.C. track frames and Mod. B lack oiler and drain holes in bottom bracket shell.
- Cinelli branded Magistroni cranks gone after the 1950s.
- Over the years Cinellis were built with various dropouts including Campagnolo Cambio Corsa and Paris-Roubaix, Simplex TdF and Altenburger among others.
- Cinelli M71 pedal still shown in 1983 catalog.
- Mod. Riviera city/sport bike was primarily built for the English and German markets by a builder from Monza, who never built under his own name, according to an interview with Andrea Cinelli. Over the years the Riviera was built by various companies, including Garlatti in Parma.
- Over the years Cinelli offered juvenile bikes, boys and girls Rivieras, along with city bikes, all made by various companies. But the Mod. S.C. and Mod. B were always made in house, never by an outside company.- The head badge has the words "MARCA DEPOSITATA" at the bottom and the stem badge does not.
Cinelli bicycles are not cheap but it would seem that the Riviera is the least expensive of the trio.
To wreck the theory on the seat tube collar era and the reference I made to the "least expensive" check out this 1961 Riviera on ebay in Italy. Of course it has to sell to be worth the seller's valuation.

I wonder If any of the earliest Rivieras were built in house ( does not say) or as stated the Rivieras were not made in house. Milano to Monza 22.8 klms. Not too far on a quick bike. Hills?

Thanks for the free bump on my add. You can fit a bike in the boot if you cover the subwoofer with carpet, I have done it more than once.
Just kiddin. Car(e) free.

... and I don't suppose you'd ever get pulled over. Redefines 'overcapitalisation', from an automotive perspective.

WRT Magna's and an attempt to pimp his ride (failure to achieve a SummerNat Style Street Machine) "You have to have something to start with" moc.selas rac gives you an idea of the extent of over capitalisation....each to their own

I would like an original Tom Ritchey made Bullmoose attached to one of his fillet brazed frames.

I have to say he's a little light on for info about the bike. For somebody who spent $1000 on a vintage MTB you would think his description would go beyond 3 gears on the front and 6 on the back?
