apollo III cyclocross
Postby austy37 » Sat Jan 02, 2010 10:17 am
here is my apollo III which I added 700's, cross tyres, and some wierd old bars which look a bit like moustach bars (and are pretty comfy). Mnt bike brakes round out the ride. Its got an old shimano 46/40 crankset which is nice for steeper stuff. She goes really well on the fire-roads around canberra and is ok in a bit of singletrack too.

The bars appear to be reversed 'North Road' style.

I really like those bars. And yeah, they do look like an inverted North Road bar. Great idea.

not sure on the year model, has plain gauge tubing, suntour vx derailiers. the bars dont allow for huge hands though, but it is nice to have an extra spot for your hands on top while you are spining on the flats.

The year model is the first part of the serial number on the seat tube, just above the bottom bracket on the left hand side of the frame.

That looks good.
What are the apollo frames like? I picked an apollo 4 off a hard rubbish collection a little while ago, and have nearly got it finished. It seemed decent for an old frame, so i painted it (not very retro colour) and have converted it to threadless and 700c.

The Apollo 4 was about as good as got back then (in the Apollo range). Lucky you for getting one of hard rubbish!
