Dont forget to pack your chocolateI was reading through an old cycling magazine and found the following advert. I thought it might be a good reminder to make sure you pack a block of chocolate before heading out on your bike.

Re: Dont forget to pack your chocolateAnd a nice bowl of bovril after the ride!
Is that the page number on the top right corner??
Interesting Karen.
Reminds me of a joke I made up. "you can get your daily protein requirements from 14 box's of chocolates" I've got stuff on ebay
It's not a page number at the top. Not sure what it is, I will have to have another look.
I am scanning the magazine as it is on loan to me so I will have to post some of the other ads. It's funny to see the difference in cycling adverts. I must go out now, I am off to the shops to stock up on chocolate!
Neat. Vintage ads of anything are fun to look at. I've got a book on Victorian ads and there's a few cycling ones, here's one of the more bizarre c. 1880, still trying to figure out how it supposed to climb them there stairs though: ![]()

Chocolate - Now that's a different slant on road sense not usually taught these days.
Ha, didn't even think about that, maybe you just turn the seat around for downhill. (Posh pommy accent) "I say, you there, street urchin, yes, you! cushion my fall won't you?" Actually I think chocolate & candies are pretty good as quick energy sources, not nutritious or "healthy", but the cals are there
every time I look at that photo, I just see a stack in the making I've got stuff on ebay
A gentleman stacketh not, he merely congresses with the earth in manner far more gallant than what is perceived to be the plebeian norm.
How dare you sir, even consider the possibility of having the silightest predilection towards the contemplation of doubting the veracity of this exemplary statement of truth!
