I still have the Campione del Mondo bars. They don't have a size or model number on there like later models. Just the crest and shield. They were a bit narrow for me (40 cm). The ends of the bars look hand finished with a file.

I actually went to the garage to check on that stem. It's not as bad as I thought. It would need some serious TLC to make it usable. I just thought I mangled the clamp area when I was prying it off. But it's really the corrosion that makes it look bad.

Almost passed on a Road Master on a hard rubbish pile yesterday. The kids took a closer look and spotted a 600 Arabesque rear mech on it. Score!

Cannot believe how heavy the damn thing is, though.

TTar that BSA Granada looks like my old bicycle. I bought it in 1980 (with my first earnings from my job at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary!) from my brother-in-law who brought it over from England. I sold the bike after I bought my first car five years later. I'd be very keen to know what you've done with the BSA.

Picked up this bucket of parts at a charity shop. At first glance looked like pretty average stuff.

Closer inspection revealed a mixed bag of components.

I have a bike I can put then on but would trade for Dura ace 7400 series brakes.

Popped round to a work colleague's house this arvo and realised roadside collection was on in his suburb. So spent the better part of an hour driving around, not a lot out besides BBQs and pedestal fans but saw a pool table (need to borrow dad's ute to try and snatch that) and picked up a decent aluminium Apollo hybrid, passed on a hi-ten Apollo mixte and scored a "Velo Ecosse" aluminium road bike with 9spd Tiagra, carbon forks and ano blue Mavic Open Pros :D . Velo Ecosse is/was a bike shop in Edinburgh, it needs stripping back and respraying but it should fit me nicely :D .

There i was, eating my pasta and now it's all over my keyboard  . It is a 55cm top tube, but a 60cm seat tube, so i should be able to fit scott's seatpost length rule without joining cirque du soleil :) . I've had another look over it, carbon seatpost (although it's been overtightened and split :( ), Profile aerobars because i swear every other bike in noosa has aerobars, and a yellow, black and red Selle Italia which is a bit tatty. Lovely curvy seatstays too :) .

One weird thing though, the top cap on the threadless headset has 3 evenly spaced grub screws going in the top, i've never seen anything like it? Will definitely get some pics up tomorrow.

Guessing the centre one is the normal threadless screw, but the other two allow for something to be mounted to the top cap?

I need to get pics up, by top cap i don't mean the preload adjuster but the cover on the top bearing, the grub screws are on the top around the outside of the steerer (if that makes ANY sense at all :? ). Very strange.

OK here we go. Note the horrible patch on the rear of the top tube is just where the paint has flaked off, no ding thankfully (worried me when i first saw it).

And the weird headset thing. Haven't measured yet but i reckon it's 1".

And the pretty seatstays :)

None taken, I'm actually growing quite fond of it, the more i look at it the more i like it :) . Aside from the bar tape and clip ons of course!

Scored an absolute corker tonight, the hard rubbish collection to end all hard rubbish collections. A POOL TABLE! Needs a little TLC but basically sound, even had 2 cues still inside  .

Nicked my dad's ute :) . I don't know if it's slate but i know it weighs A LOT, damn near killed me loading and unloading it. The most amazing thing is the GLW didn't go spare when i appeared at the front door with this hulking great monstrosity that is now taking up half the garage, she was actually quite impressed :) .

Another suburb getting roadside collection, so i did some cruising after work this evening. Very little of interest in terms of bikes but i did manage to score a carbon Giant Cadex MTB which should clean up nicely, and a little Repco Origami folder (new Big W Repco, not good old Repco). I've wanted one of them for ages but couldn't justify spending $160 on one. This one has bent bars (easily swapped out) and banged up mudguards but otherwise looks ready to roll :) .
